1. LEAP's first meeting is today, all three lunches, in the Lecture Hall. Come up, right at the start of lunch and In 15 minutes you will learn everything about LEAP and all the amazing opportunities. Get ready to leap into LEAP!!!!
2. Any grade 9 students interested in joining student council should see Ms Ristov in TLC at lunch to pick up an application form. Applications are due no later than next Friday morning.
3. Attention all new and returning STEM members: our first meeting will be this Thursday, September 19th at lunch in the lecture hall. Bring your lunch and a Loonie for a lanyard. We can’t wait to see you there!

5. The Sr. Girls Basketball team got a start on their season last night, dominating Paris by more than 40 points. Erin Banting was solid on the boards while also putting up 11 points. Arhyanna Petrella added 10 points to the total as well. Great job lions! We are back on the road on Thursday to play SJC.
6. Last night the junior girls basketball team defeated Paris 60-7. A strong team effort was too much for the panthers,as the girls allowed only 1 point in the first half. Kate Kostiuk and Sunita Tiwari scored 12 points each to lead their team. Taya Sindrey had 6. Congratulations on a great game team! The girls travel to SJC on Thursday at 4:00 to play a strong st John’s team! Come out and support your lions!
7. All senior boys rugby players interested in playing 7s please pick up a permission form from Mr. Prior at the end of the day outside of Portable 20. If you are playing another sport already, please seek permission from that coach to also participate on the 7s team.
8. A list of those who have qualified for the AABHN golf tournament is posted outside of the boys and girls phys-ed offices. We will have a very quick meeting after school on Thursday, Sept 19 in room 2060
9. The enrichment group for history and geography, known as CWAYC, is proud to announce that debate club begins this week. Do you love to argue and debate? Come out and join CWAYC. There will be an information meeting in the lecture hall after school on THURSDAY for ALL NEWCOMERS with details about how Parliamentary Style debate works. The first debate of season will take place later this month. See the CWAYC bulletin board outside student services, and posters up around the first floor, for details. Contact Mrs. Flanagan in 1013 if you have questions.
10. On September 25th, BHN will be hosting a Skilled Trades Day for Indigenous students at The Gathering Place on Six Nations. If you are an Indigenous student in Grades 9 – 12, you have an opportunity to participate in this FREE event where you can learn more about the skilled trades from experienced Indigenous tradespeople and community organizations from Brantford and Six Nations. The event will run from 9AM to 2PM on September 25th. Transportation and lunch will be provided free of charge, and you will have the chance to win some great prizes. If you are interested in participating in this event, sign up in Student Services by Friday, September 20th.
11. Attention girls field hockey will continue to practice tonight. Please speak to Mrs. Mcdade or Mrs. Hawkins if you cannot attend.
12. Junior tennis practices will be held on Wednesday and Thursday.
13. Mrs. Sheldrake is looking for students to be altar servers for our school Masses. You must be Catholic and be attending Mass regularly in order to be an altar server but if you have never done it before and would like to try it the school will provide training for you and partner you with an experienced server the first time. Contact Mrs. Sheldrake in room 2050 if you are interested in helping.
14. Would you like to be a retreat leader for the grade 9 retreats here at Assumption and new mini-retreats for Grade 8 students that will also be taking place at Assumption. Be a leader and mentor to Grade 9 Lions and future Lions. Sign up today in the cafeteria on the lunchtimes at Club Fest. 1. Don't forget Lions, today is CLUB FEST! During all three lunches today in the cafeteria, students will have the opportunity to sign up for clubs and extracurricular activities. See you there.
2. Wednesday September 18th is Dress Down day for Charity. All proceeds will go to the Six Nations Food Bank. Students choosing to Dress Down are to bring $2 to homeroom and recieve a bracelet to indicate they have donated $2 to Dress Down for the day. Please remember ACS is an accademic institution and a dress code still applies, so dress appropriately for school. If you choose not to participate in Dress Down day, No Problem! Please be sure to be in full uniform as usual.

2. This weekend the junior girls traveled to Conestoga College for their first tournament. The team played 3 tough games losing to a strong Ursuline College who ended up winning the tournament. Halle Hawkins was named a tournament all-star. Coralyn Towers, Ali Arseneau and Sienna Luciani played well for the team. Manuela Stavale had a great defensive weekend! The girls start league play tomorrow at 4:00 in Paris! Good luck ladies!

1. Attention grade 9s. Colour Night is TONIGHT from 3-8pm! Here a few reminders for the event:
- At the end of the day, please place your belongings in your locker, and make your way immediately to the cafeteria to find your team. Grade 12 leaders will be there to help direct you. Please bring a water bottle and wear athletic footwear.
By now you should have your wristband with your team colour. You should be wearing this wristband today, and for the whole evening. If you did not receive your wristband yesterday, please speak to your homeroom teacher. Any additional questions or concerns can be brought to Ms Ristov in TLC at lunch.
- A reminder that this is a closed event. Re-entry will not be permitted for any student who chooses to leave the school early. As well, any students who are not participating in the event are asked to please leave the school at the end of the day and not to linger.
2. The guidance department is hosting a mandatory gr 12 meeting today during your period 2 Gr 12 class. If you have an online class, non grade 12 period 2 course or spare in period 2, you are to report to the lecture hall for the meeting. 1. This Friday Sept 6th is the last day to sign up for a semester 1 course change. It will take counsellors into next week before we can see the over 500 students who have signed up so please be patient and continue to follow your current schedule until you are called down.
2. Attention all grade 9s. Student council has planned a special event just for you! Next Thursday, September 12th, is COLOUR NIGHT - a fun filled evening of games, pizza, and a dance. Plus, you get to dress down all day in your team colour! Tickets for this event are $7, and can be purchased on school cash online until Tuesday, September 10th at 3pm. Wristbands will be distributed next Wednesday to homeroom classes. Want to know your team colour early? Be sure to purchase your ticket by the end of the week to find out your team on Monday. Don't miss out on this great event! Any grade 12s interested in volunteering at this event are asked to sign up on the list outside of TLC."

5. Attention all girls interested in trying out for the field hockey team. No field hockey experience is required but it is encouraged you look up some sport rules prior to attending. Tryouts will be Mon, Wed and Thurs next week at 3:15. Please sign up outside the phys. Ed office and pick up a permission form. Mouth guards and soccer shin pads are mandatory for tryouts and cleats are encouraged. For more information, come to the female phys. Ed office.
6. Attention senior boys volleyball players. Tryouts will be Thursday and Friday before school this week. Get a permission form, and scan the QR code by the boys phys ed office today. 7. Tennis season is starting again. Tryouts for Juniors will begin next week on Monday and Wednesday afterschool. Tryouts for Seniors will be held on Tuesday and Thursday next week. All tryouts will be from 3:00 until 4:30pm. Permission forms can be picked up from Mrs. O’Brien in Room 3004 any day this week
8. The Senior Football is still looking for some recruits. We need offensive and Defensive linemen. If you want to play with the current city champs, go see Coach Nagy at the football field after school at the upper field.
