1.   A reminder that tonight at midnight is the deadline to submit your Slam Poetry entry to the Library D2L. Entries will be judged by the Library Advisory Council after school on Wednesday. The top 3 performers will earn up to $100 cash! Good luck to all entrants! 

2.   Hey Lions...don’t forget to check your school email account regularly! Guidance counsellors send important information about how to sign up for summer school as well to let you know if you got into a waitlisted course ....Don’t miss out! 

3.   Do you remember reading “The Outsiders” in gr.8? You know – Ponyboy? Dally? Well, here’s your chance to see it LIVE on stage and bring back those memories! The gr12 class, along with Director Emily Birrell and Assistant Director, Ashlyn Harris, have been working hard for over 2 months! Tickets are $10 and go on sale Thursday May 22nd. You can pick up your tickets during lunches at the back of the cafe or by emailing Mrs. Ratelband at nratelband@bhncdsb.ca  Bring extra cash as there will also be snacks available to buy at intermission! Warning: this show does contain violence, flashing lights and loud noises. So let’s support our fellow lions as they take the stage one last time! 

4.   Mandatory track meeting after school in the gym for all athletes!  

5.   A friendly reminder that the Yearbook Club will be meeting this afternoon at 3:10p.m. in room 2028. Please come prepared to continue to work on Yearbook pages.   

6.   If you are a music student going on the Canada’s Wonderland trip tomorrow, listen up.  You must be at the school at 7:45 tomorrow morning.  The bus leaves at 8 and will leave without you.  We have a waiting list of students ready and willing to take your spot.  Bring your black music t-shirt and dress appropriate for the weather.  Remember...be at the school for 7:45a.m.   

7.   Have you ever wanted to walk where the saints walked, eat where the Italians really eat, and laugh your way through the Eternal City with teachers who treat faith, food, and fun like it’s part of the curriculum? Because at ACS… it is! Well… Andiamo!  The Italy 2026 Trip Information Meetings are happening on Monday, May 26th during all three lunches in the Lecture Hall! All students are welcome, whether you’re just dreaming about pizza in Florence or already signed up faster than Miss Dabrowski can say “San Giovanni Paolo Secondo!” (that’s St. John Paul the Second in Italian, of course!) Already signed up? Fantastico! You should still come, we’ll be talking all about fundraising opportunities to help make this trip more affordable. Don’t stress about the cost, there are numerous ways to fundraise! And here’s some dolce news: the $100 early sign-up discount has been extended until May 31st! So, save some money, pack your crossbody, and get ready to say ciao to bella Italia next March Break. Faith, food, and unforgettable memories await. 

8.   ACS Knit Club, there is no meeting this week. Next week is our final meet. Wed, May 28th from 3-4. Please bring back any needles/hooks if not attending the last meeting. Thank you for all you do, Mrs. Cameron.

Friday May 9

1. Hey Lions! Faith & Fellowship is meeting today during lunch! Join us for conversations about faith, to ask questions, and to be part of our faith community. Grade 10's meet in room 3028, and grade 11/12's in room 3029. Reach out to Kaylee or Brianna Cook with any questions. See you there!   

 2. Attention Grade 12’s. Pick up your Prom tickets at the back of the Caf today. Bring your School Cash Online receipt as proof of purchase during Senior lunch.  

3. This year’s spring dance is set for Thursday, May 15th from 6-9pm. The theme is “Spring into Glow”. Get ready for a music-filled night filled with neon and blacklights. Ticket sales for ACS students are available on school cash online from Monday May 5th to Wednesday May 14th. Guest tickets must be purchased in person at the back of the caf May 8th – May 13th. Please remember that guest forms must be completed before a ticket to the dance can be purchased. Guest forms can be picked up in the main office. 

4. Ciao, Lions! Have you ever wanted to stroll through Rome, ride a gondola in Venice, eat authentic gelato in Florence, or visit the Vatican with a new pope elected? Now’s your chance! 

5. Join us for our Student Italy Information Meetings on Monday, May 26th during all three lunches in the Lecture Hall. These meetings are open to all students interested in going to Italy during March Break 2026, whether you're just exploring the idea or already signed up! 

6. If you've already registered, we’d love to see you there too, we’ll be going over important details about fundraising opportunities, which will help make this amazing experience more affordable. So don’t fret about the cost, we’re here to help make it possible! And here's some exciting news: the $100 early sign-up discount has been extended until May 31st! Come learn more, save some money, and get ready for an unforgettable adventure next March Break! 

7. You are invited to fight Fast Fashion by joining the Environment Club’s Clothing Swap on Wednesday May 14th after school. Bring 10-15 used clothing items in good condition, and leave with some new-to-you clothes in return! All seasons and sizes needed. Light refreshments will be provided. 

8. Attention Grade 12’s. Pick up your Prom tickets today at the back of the Caf during senior lunch. Bring your proof of purchase to receive your ticket. Once that is complete, send Ms. Mosher the list of people who will be sitting at your table. The list should include first and last names of everyone, including guests. See you at lunch! 

9. All grade 11 SHSM health care students must pick up a permission form from room 2029 for the human anatomy lab trip next week (Tues. May 13). Forms need to be signed and returned by this Monday. 

10. Attention STEM students: If you are interested in attending a Cancer Research Workshop at McMaster University, please see the activity feed of the STEM D2L page for details. If you have already signed up, please pay the fee via school cash online ASAP. If a minimum number of payments are NOT received by Monday, the trip will be cancelled. 

11. Attention! All Extended French students in grades 9-12 are invited on a field trip on May 30th to a lavender field.  Please come see Mme. Danielle in workroom 2010 during any lunch for a permission form. 

12. Any Students interested in Participating in the Brantford Classic Run on June 1st, please contact Mme. Beccari, Dr. Denison-Hewko or Mr. Prior. All fundraised money goes towards Lansdowne Children’s Center and the Boys and Girls club. You Run; Kids Win!  

13. Burford Elementary needs volunteers for their Fun Fair on June 19th  .  This is a great opportunity for community service hours.  See guidance for more information. 

14. Attention grade 11 and 12 students.  Letter Lion Applications are due TODAY at 12:00 noon in Student Services.  All applications are required to be returned even if they are incomplete.  Thank you. 

15. Friday special in the servery will be Cheeseburger and fries for $7.75 topped with pickles, onions and tomatoes. Milkshakes for $3.85 strawberry, chocolate and vanilla-while supplies last. Onion rings today for $4.25 

16. The varsity girls soccer team ended their regular season games with a 5-0 win over Paris and 10-0 win over PJ. The goals, (more than one for many) were scored by Alex, Julia, Danika, Arhyanna, Olivia, Brianna, Czeska and Sienna. A special shout out goes to Siena, Emerson, Kate and Lakyn for stepping up to play in net. The girls then played PJ again in their Quarter Final game and won 5-0. Shout out to Evangeline and Mereina for going in net, and to our goal scorers: Mereina, Arhyanna, Sienna, and Julia. Please wish our girls good luck at their Semi-Final game on Monday. Go lions!
