1. Come celebrate Día de Muertos with the Latino Club — join the baking fiesta this Tuesday after school in Room 2078!  

2. SHSM Health Care Focus new recruits- forms need to be signed this week. Please visit room 2029 during periods 2, 3 and 4. New signups need to have forms signed before Oct 30th. 

3. Attention STEM Club members: Join us in the Lecture Hall on Tuesday, October 28th during senior lunch as we welcome back Shriyak, a U of T student, for a special STEM talk: “How Cool are Lasers?”. Discover how lasers can cool things down, keep the world on time, and unlock quantum mysteries. Grab a slip outside of room 3005 to attend. 

4. Attention all grade 9, 10, and 11 students! The March 2027 trip to England and France is still looking for travellers! The trip is almost sold out with only 5 spots remaining. For more information, please speak to or email Mrs. McLaughlin or Ms. Capostagno, or grab a flyer with registration information outside room 2052. Don’t miss out! 

5. ACS book clubbers, today is the last day to submit your 2-sentence scary story! Send your eerie entries to asantos@bhncdsb.ca. All stories will be read and voted on at the meeting this Monday! The top story wins bragging rights and a treat.  Let the chills begin. 

6. The next ACS Book Club meeting is scheduled for this Monday, October 27 right after school . Meet in the library! I look forward to seeing you there.

7. Attention all Grade 10 Core and all Extended French students!  Are you interested in joining the Québec trip this February? Don’t miss out on this amazing opportunity! Pick up an information package and registration form posted on the room 2010 door.  The last day to sign up is November 10th! 

8. If you signed up for STARFEST then you must fill out the form found on D2L by midnight TONIGHT! See Mr. DaCosta or Ms. O’Neill if you are not yet added to the D2L page. This is your last chance to join the competition! 

9. You are invited to the next Environment Club meeting on Monday the 27th. Meet Mrs. Walsh in Room 3024 at 3pm to help out with the Community Gardens at Edith Monture Park. 

10. Don't forget! There will be a very brief, but very important, meeting for all students attending the “Macbeth” Trip to Stratford next Wednesday. Please meet Ms. Gomez and Mrs. Belina today in the Lecture Hall directly after announcements.  You will be called out of class directly after announcements. 

11. Student Services will be holding University and College Workshops for grade 12/13 students on Tuesday, Oct 28th.  The University Application Workshop will be during period 1 in your class on Teams.  The College Application Workshop will be during period 2 in your class on Teams.  Students who are online or on spare will be joining us in the lecture hall.   

12. Next week is Spirit week lions! Check out posters around the school and on social media for more information. Monday is Halloween accessories day. Full uniform must be worn, but accessorize with Halloween themed socks, jewelry, shoes, etc. Hats, masks and face covering are not allowed. 

13. Attention Jack Chapter: we are having our first general meeting, today at 3:10 PM in the lecture hall. This is for all members who have registered to be in the chapter. If you cannot attend, please contact one of the Dabrowski sisters. 

14. Dreaming of Italy? The Religion Department has 8 more spots lefts before we have to open up a waiting list for our March Break trip for 2026. If you have any questions please contact either Miss D.Dabrowski, Mr. Prior, Ms. Mosher, or Mr. Martorelli. There will be an upcoming meeting for any students that are still interested.  

15. Today's special in the servery will be Buffalo Chicken poutine -popcorn chicken drenched in franks red hot sauce, mozzarella cheese, gravy, ranch dressing drizzled on top and green onions for $7.25

1.   Amplify Your culture is tomorrow in the caf, just a reminder to all participants to be at the school early for set up. Also, please remember this is an invite only event and classes not registered are not permitted. Teachers please do not allow students down without supervision.

2.   SHSM paperwork is absolutely due next week, grade 11s and 12s…do NOT miss this opportunity. Grab your forms in guidance and get them signed right away.

4.   Good News Gr 12 students!  The Mohawk College Rep Visit has been rescheduled to Nov 18th.  Please sign up on the gr 12 D2L page to participate.   

5.   Mrs. Flanagan is looking a group of students to help with this year’s Pennies from Heaven letter writing campaign.  If you like doing charitable work and have time after school, please come to a meeting this Thursday in room 1013. Community service hours can be earned. 

6.   ¡Hola everyone! The Latino Club is celebrating Día de Muertos with a baking fiesta! Join us after school on Tuesday, October 28th, in Room 2078! Come help us mix, bake, and eat! Everyone is welcome – bring your friends, bring your appetite, and bring your Latino spirit!

Please send a short audition video to Ms Ristov no later than 3pm on Friday, October 31st if you want to participate. The event will take place the evening of Thursday, November 13th.

12.  On Friday, our Senior tennis team competed at the CWOSSA championship in Orangeville. Our boys doubles team, made up of Adam B and Matt M, won all their matches and are advancing to OFSSA for the second time. Our team’s mixed doubles, made up of Dylan S and Halle H, also won all their matches and are on their way to OFSSA. Congratulations to both teams and good luck at the OFSSA tournament in Toronto. 

13.  Today's special in the servery will be Chicken parmesan sandwich on a breaded white meat chicken cutlet topped with mozzarella cheese and marinara sauce and a sprinkle of parmesan cheese with fries for $7.65. Cinnamon buns are back in the house !!! Available at the bell at 10:15am.

6.   Our First yoga club practice is TOMORROW October 21. Bring your permission form with you to 1035 right after school! We will move for about an hour. Wear comfy clothes and be prepared to move. Yoga is a great compliment to other sports and builds strength and flexibility!

9.   Congratulations to the senior boys volleyball team who played at an incredibly high level against Paris last Thursday.  Every player was exceptional, we are looking forward to another great performance against St. John’s after school tomorrow.

Thursday October 16, 2025

1.   If you ordered spirit wear online, and have received a notification that it has been delivered, your order can be picked up today in the student council office on your lunch.  

2.   The Jr. And Sr. Football games scheduled in Paris this Saturday have been moved to Friday night at Kiwanis Field.  Come out and support our Jr. And Sr. Football Teams tomorrow night as they take on the Paris Panthers.  Game times are 5 and 7pm.  Admission is $3 per student and $5 per adult.  Hope to see you all there. 

3.   Boys volleyball will be playing tonight in the gym.  Come cheer the team on tonight against Paris!

5.   Assumption Scares routes will be handed out to the groups TODAY. Please be sure to be at the lunch time meeting TODAY on all lunches, if you are not there, you will not be given your route! Thank you everyone! 

6.   Attention all students interested in joining this year’s swim team. Permission forms and information sheets can be picked up outside of room 3010. You do NOT need to be a competitive swimmer to join this team. Practices will begin the last week of October. See Ms Ristov with any questions. 

7.   The Quebec Trip Parent Information Meeting is happening tonight at 5:30 PM in the Lecture Hall. This meeting is for both students and parents, so everyone attending the trip can get all the important details.  We’ll go over the itinerary, travel arrangements, and answer any questions you might have.  Don’t miss it — see you there! 

8.   Attention Gr 12 students that have signed up for Georgian College’s Rep visit today – it has unfortunately been cancelled due to the ongoing strike by college union workers. 

9.  Today's special in the servery will be Chicken balls with oriental veggies and  long grain rice with your choice of either sweet and sour sauce or sweet chili heat for $6.50. Remember we are short cinnamon buns until next Wednesday.
