1. Attention Grade 12’s. If you are interested in joining the Prom Committee, we will be having our first meeting this Monday, January 19th in room 1003 during senior lunch. See Ms. Mosher, Mrs. S. Medeiros, or Mrs. Lucchesi if you have any questions. See you there! 

 2. Hey Lions! The ACS England/France trip student information session has been rescheduled for Wednesday, January 21st after school in the Lecture Hall. All attendees will be entered into a draw for $100 off the price of the trip for new registrants, plus register by February 1st and receive an additional $200 off the price of the trip! Come for some snacks and a great presentation! Please reach out to Mrs. McLaughlin if you have any questions!  

 3. Exam Tip #2- Student Success says: Study actively (not just by reading). Passive reading doesn’t stick. Active studying is more beneficial because it engages your brain in deeper processing, which improves understanding and retention. Try using flashcards to test your knowledge of vocabulary, complete the review your teacher gave you, work through practice questions to polish up on past math problems. Summarize your notes. Get those old tests out and make the corrections to any questions you got wrong. Happy studying, Lions! 

4. Todays special in the servery is loaded tex mex fries or nachos with all the fixings for $8.25. Plain nachos for $4.99 

SPORTS: Senior Badminton sign up is now posted outside the male Phys ed office. The first tryout will be after school 3-4:30 on Tuesday, January 20th. Please bring your form signed to the tryout.

1.   Attention Gr 12’s applying to University...The Final due date to apply is tomorrow- Thursday Jan 15th! Don’t wait and miss out! 

2.   Looking for something fun to do at lunch? The Library Advisory Council has you covered! This Wednesday (yep—that’s today!), LAC is hosting a “bookmark‑making workshop” in the Fishbowl. Come create a bookmark for yourself and help restock our free bookmark basket. All supplies are ready and waiting—just bring your creativity and a friend! See you tomorrow at lunch. 

3.   Attention retreat leaders! There is a mandatory meeting tomorrow for retreat leaders to sign up to lead the grade 9 retreats. That’s in the chapel on the lunch times.

1.  Junior Badminton Tryouts will be Tuesday, Thursday and Friday Morning this week at 7:10am. Permission forms can be found outside the female Physed office. 

2.  Concert Band will be meeting today for our final rehearsal of semester one.  See you in the music room after school.   

3.  Knit/crochet club will be restarting this Wednesday in room 1003 from 3 to 4 pm. New members welcome! 

4.  Yoga Club will start back up tomorrow after school in 1035. We will meet the next two weeks for some gentle practices and strategies to keep calm before exams. New members are welcome! Just grab a permission form from outside 1035 or 3014 and bring to your first practice. 

5.  Today's special in the servery will be Beef meatballs with penne pasta topped with tomato basil sauce and a side of garlic toast for $5.75

1.   Good morning, Lions. Today is the day for our Men in Faith gathering during Period 2. Students must report to their Period 2 class first and wait for the announcement before coming to the Caf, where you will sign in upon arrival. Only students who signed up through the QR code are permitted to attend. We look forward to a meaningful time of prayer, conversation, and fellowship. God bless! 

2.   Start the New Year off right and buy tickets for the Jack Chapter’s Annual Karaoke Night with a new addition of adding the famous “Just Dance” game! Tickets are $5 and will be sold at the back of the cafeteria at every lunch this week! The event is TOMORROW and it runs from 6-8 PM. Doors will open at 5:45 for students to sign up to either sing a song or dance a Just Dance with a team! Don’t miss out! 

3.   Attention all those travelling to New York City in May – if you haven’t already done so, Ms. Benoit needs you to bring in signed permission forms, make her aware of any dietary restrictions, and bring in a copy of your passport. To see if you need to submit any of these things, check out the lists on the NYC Brightspace/D2L page. Bring these items to Ms. Benoit in Room 2015. 

4.   Business DECA students – Attention all Business DECA CLUB students - please meet with Mr. Virdo and Mr. Head in Room 2006 today after school for some important information about an upcoming competition. 

5.   Thursday's special in the servery will be Chicken Balls with rice and Oriental veggies with your choice of sweet and sour sauce or sweet chili heat for $6.50. Cinnamon buns for 10:15am .

Come out to our student information session scheduled for Thursday, January 15th after school in the Lecture Hall. 1.   Good morning, Lions. Today is the last day to sign up for Men in Faith, happening this Thursday during Period 2 in the Caf. Let’s start the year by seeking God through prayer, conversation, and fellowship with other young men, administrators, and teachers. Scan the QR codes around ACS to sign up today. Did we mention you’ll be getting a free cookie and hot chocolate when you attend? Oops, our bad! We hope to see you there. God bless. 

2.   We would like to acknowledge and thank our Prefects who provided homework help and mentorship this past semester.  Undoubtedly, your volunteerism as servant leaders has helped so many through weekly one-to-one sessions.  Lions, thank you for putting your trust and faith in the ACS Prefect Program.  We wish everyone the best while preparing for and writing semester 1 final exams. 1.  Today is “Let it Snow” day! Dress head to toe in white! Any non-white items should be uniform pieces. Tomorrow is our Christmas Dress “up” day. Wear your Christmas best attire for our Holiday celebrations.  

2.  Attention all grade 12 graduates. Still haven’t taken your grad photo? Or want to have a retake? Scan the QR code on your grad D2L page as February retake days have now been opened! If you have any questions, email Mrs. Delnick.

3.  Good morning, Lions.  Please note that our Men in Faith gathering will take place on Wednesday, January 7th during Period 2. As we begin a new year, we invite you to set aside time to seek God through prayer, meaningful conversation, and fellowship with other young men of faith, as well as some administrators and teachers. Your response is required. Anyone wanting to go on the NYC Trip, there is one spot left. If you want it, you must enroll before January. See Ms. Benoit or the info outside of room 2015 for the details.

6.   The senior boys basketball team is halfway through their season and they remain undefeated. On Tuesday night the team played a weak McKinnon Park, winning 90-23. Everyone on the team contributed to the win. Shout outs go to Yuvraj and TK for putting up the most points. Temple and Michael were strong on defense. Come out and support the lions on Thursday at ACS against BCI.

1.   Today is “Baby it’s cold outside” day! Wear your favourite Christmas sweater with uniform bottoms and shoes. Tomorrow is “The Night before Christmas” day. Wear full PJ sets, onsies, or long PJ bottoms with uniform tops. No sweatpants or hoodies please! 

2.   Attention for all potential grade 12 graduates. There are 2 days left to take your grad photos for 2026 graduation. If you miss this week or require a retake of your photos, you must wait until the picture retakes in February! No retakes will be taken this week. If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Delnick.  

3.   The 2024-2025 Yearbook is available for pick-up. All students who have paid their activity fees from the last academic year will receive a yearbook. If you missed our distribution on Friday, yearbooks will be available on grade 10 and senior lunch today in the cafeteria.  Students with a Spare, Co-op, or online course during Period 7 are encouraged to pick up their yearbooks this week. Siblings of a recent ACS grad can pick up their yearbook in the office. Make sure you write your name in your yearbook immediately after you receive it. 

4.   Good morning, Lions! Are you a young man interested in growing in your faith or maybe just curious about what that journey could look like? If so, listen up! A group of men in the faith leadership class are hosting a Men’s Faith Event in the cafeteria during Period 2 on Wednesday, December 17th. Come out to talk about what it means to live out your faith as men, support one another, and build a real sense of community. To sign up, just scan the QR codes posted around the school or on the ATV slideshow. There are only 80 spots available, so make sure you sign up fast – the deadline is TODAY! We hope to see you there! 

5.   Tomorrow is the day for all those going to see “White Christmas” at the Shaw Festival on Wednesday, December 17th – our departure time has moved up to 8:20a.m. tomorrow morning! Please make arrangements to be at the music room door at that time or the bus will leave without you! Make sure to be wearing nice clothing (no ripped jeans) and bring a lunch or money for a lunch. We will return to ACS by 5pm. 

6.   A reminder for those in Concert Band to pick up their music in the music room for next year’s concerts.  Santa is deciding which list to put you on.

1.   Today is “Santa’s workshop” day! Wear Christmas socks and accessories with your uniform. Please remember any Christmas hats cannot be worn in hallways, only in classrooms. Tomorrow is “Baby it’s cold outside” day. Wear your favourite Christmas sweater with uniform bottoms and shoes.  

2.   Attention all grade 12 students: if you have not already registered and paid for graduation, you need to do so ASAP! Please go to the grad D2L page to register. Payment for the grad fee via School Cash Online will close TODAY, Monday, December 15th at 3pm. 

3.   The 2024-2025 Yearbook is available for pick-up. All students who have paid their activity fees from the last academic year will receive a yearbook. If you missed our distribution on Friday, yearbooks will be available on grade 10 and senior lunch today and tomorrow in the cafeteria.  Students with a Spare, Co-op, or online course during Period 7 are encouraged to pick up their yearbooks this week. Siblings of a recent ACS grad can pick up their yearbook in the office. Make sure you write your name in your yearbook immediately after you receive it.

A group of men in the faith leadership class are hosting a Men’s Faith Event in the cafeteria during Period 2 on Wednesday, December 17th. Come out to talk about what it means to live out your faith as men, support one another, and build a real sense of community. To sign up, just scan the QR codes posted around the school or on the ATV slideshow. There are only 80 spots available, so make sure you sign up fast – the deadline is tomorrow morning! We hope to see you there! 

5.   A gentle reminder for those in Concert Band to pick up their music in the music room for next year’s concerts.  Also, Santa is bringing you a Christmas cactus this year to remind you to...practice.

8.   ACS Powerlifters Shine at the Westdale Fall Open.    Our Lions made history this past Wednesday as the first team in our board to compete in a powerlifting meet! Despite the weather, they showed up and gave it their all. Natalya and Mya placed 1st in their weight classes, with Natalya also earning Best Overall Female. Ryan finished 3rd and Malik 4th, while Albus and Anthony delivered strong performances and personal best. We’re so proud of these athletes. Way to go, Lions!
