1.   We have a Volunteer Hours Opportunity to help Blessed Sacrament Church in Burford.  They are hosting a function on Saturday, May 3 from 10-6.  If you are interested, please check out the poster on our Volunteer Board near Student Services!  

2.   Hey Grads! Those of you who missed photos or would like a retake, Edge Imaging has a pop-up studio scheduled for Friday, April 25 at St. Mark’s Church on Memorial Dr. in Brantford.  Appointments can be booked, through the bookmygrad.ca website BUT you will have to click the option that states, “Book at an offsite studio location” and select Brantford Grade 12 Graduation. Please email Mrs. Mastromatteo if you have any questions! 

3.   Attention grade 12 students: Have a fun day with your friends  in the beautiful outdoors at Camp Marydale at the grad retreat on May 20th.  For more details see the poster and permission form posted outside the chaplaincy office. The cost for the day is $25. The deadline to pay online is May 5th. All grade 12 students are welcome! 

4.   Attention Grade 12’s. If you missed the Prom meeting last Thursday, please go to the Grade 12 D2L page to watch the meeting and scan the QR Code to sign the Prom contract. Tickets go on sale on Monday, April 28th so it is very important that you fill out that form before you purchase your ticket. 5.   April is National Poetry Month, and LEAP is hosting a special lunch presentation featuring the talented, published poet and former grad, Ram-neek Pan-chee on Thurs. April 17th in the lecture hall. Grade 10 students and seniors are invited to attend on their lunch, and Grade 9 students can join too by signing up in the library. Attendees will earn 1 LEAP point. 

6.   Attention Star Fest Nationals participants! Please check your email sent from Mr. DaCosta. This information MUST be given by the end of the day TODAY, Tuesday, April 15th. Any questions? See Mr. DaCosta. 

7.   Head to the library until April 23rd, Shakespeare’s birthday, to test your skills at guessing whether a line is from Shakespeare or Taylor Swift. Guess at least 2 out of 3 correctly, and you'll be entered for a chance to win one of three Amazon gift cards! The contest runs until April 23rd, Shakespeare's birthday, so you have plenty of time to participate. 

8.   Attention ALL Grade 11 students! Whether you have taken World Religions in school OR online... You are invited to join us on an exciting World Religions Exploration to Toronto on Thursday, April 24th. This unique field trip will take you on a journey through some of the most significant and inspiring places of worship in the city, including the most modern and largest synagogue, the oldest Catholic church in Ontario, the largest Hindu temple in all of Canada, and the most innovative mosque. The cost is only $28, which covers both bussing and guided tours. Lunch will be on your own at the Eaton Centre, so bring some spending money and your appetite! Forms can be picked up from Miss Dabrowski or found on the door of Staffroom 2010. Hurry—spots are limited, so get your forms in as soon as possible! They are due on Tuesday April 22! Don’t miss out on this amazing trip!

In honour of Autism Awareness Month, the Library Advisory Council is celebrating comic book cinema with Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse along with movie trivia after school on Thursday, April 17th from 3-7 PM. Make sure to bring $5 to cover the cost of pizza and a drink; now that's a deal even Peter Parker would say is a steal. Tickets are on sale now at the back of the caf. 

11.  Buongiorno! The Religion Department is thrilled to announce that our March Break 2026 trip to Italy is officially confirmed—we’ve got enough students signed up, and we’re ready to go! We’ll start in the stunning landscapes of Northern Italy and make our way down to Roma, the heart of Catholicism and a city rich in faith, history, and la dolce vita. We’re still inviting more students to join us on this incredible adventure—the more, the merrier! If you're interested in coming along on this unforgettable adventure, join us for an information night on Monday, April 28 at 6:30 PM in the Lecture Hall. Anyone who registers between April 28 and May 12 will receive $100 off the total cost. Students who have already signed up don’t need to attend this session—we’ll host a separate meeting later in May focused on fundraising opportunities. Information packages will be available starting Friday, April 25—you can pick one up from Miss Dabrowski’s classrooms or in Staff Workroom 2010. Prepare for pasta, pizzas, and a powerful journey through our Catholic heritage! 

12.  Lions – there is still room on the AFTERNOON Bus for Tree Planting field trip, next Tuesday April 22nd , from noon to 3pm. Pick up your permission forms today from the QUAKE board beside student services, and return to Mrs. Walsh in 3024 by Thursday! 

13.  Attention semester 2, geography students! Our Niagara Falls trip on Tuesday May 6th is FULL! Students who have paid and still would like to attend will be put on a wait list. Any students who are on the wait list and will not be able to go will be refunded after the trip.  Please reach out to Mrs. Mastromatteo or Mrs. Walsh if you have any questions!

11.  The final roster for the Varsity Boys Soccer team will be posted outside the male phys-ed office today at lunch. If you are on this roster, you are asked to come to Room 2023 at the end of the day for additional information, schedule and jerseys.

1.   Attention all students enrolled in cooperative education next year.  If you missed the mandatory meeting held on Monday in the lecture hall, please stop by the cooperative education office on the second floor during your lunch break to ensure you will be properly placed. 

2.   If you need volunteer hours, the Tim Hortons on Colborne St. At Mount Pleasant needs volunteers to decorate smile cookies.  Shifts are from 4:00-8:00 pm from April 27th – May 3rd.  A meal will be provided.  See the poster on the volunteer board outside students services for more details. 

3.   Hey Lions:  LEAP presentation today in Lecture Hall during Senior lunch.  Grade 9 and 10 students must present their “ticket” that they received in their homeroom today.  

4.   Attention coffee house performers. Please check your school emails for a very important message from Ms Ristov. Remember to arrive tomorrow absolutely no later than 5:30pm. Earlier if you require a sound check or need to set up amps and instruments.

2.   Hey Lions:  On Wednesday April 9th, in the lecture hall during senior lunch, LEAP is presenting author, illustrator, designer and children’s media producer Mara Shaughnessy. She makes kids books, educational video games, and admits that she has turned her love of doodling into a lucrative business.  Grades 9 and 10 students must sign up for an exit slip from class; see the sheet outside of room 1009.  Last day to sign up is Tuesday April 8th. 

3.   The next ACS book club meeting will be held this Monday April 7 at 8:15am OR after school at 3:05pm in the Library’s Innovation lab. Both meetings will be the same, come at the time that accommodates your schedule the best. We will be discussing the upcoming trip, voting for your White pine nominated winner, books you are reading and more! Looking forward to seeing you there!

11.   ULTIMATE FRISBEE BEGINS!   For those students interested in trying out for this year's incredible ULTIMATE FRISBEE team, there will be a meeting tonight in the gym right after school.  If you have not registered for the try outs, please scan the code outside the GIRLS PE OFFICE.  Try outs begin tomorrow.  See Ms. Lancaster if you have any questions.

This Wednesday during period 1, Student Services is hosting a Career Day for you.  We will have professionals representing the following sectors:  The Arts, Business, Community Services, Health Care, Trades and Technology/Engineering.  You will have an opportunity to speak with them about their profession and how to become qualified for it, etc.   If you are a grade 11 student taking a non-grade 11 course, please talk to your homeroom teacher and sign up in student services by Tuesday.

1.   Today is the last day to get your pledges in for Assumption Cares.  If you haven’t handed them in by the end of today, you must see Mr. O’Brien in room 3011. Today is the last day to order your Assumption Cares T-Shirts on School Cash Online.  Please ensure you order today by 3PM.  All T-shirts will be distributed to students on April 2nd.   

2.   Hey Grads! Those of you who missed photos or would like a retake, Edge Imaging has a pop-up studio scheduled for Friday, April 25 at St. Mark’s Church on Memorial Dr. in Brantford.  Appointments can be booked, through the bookmygrad.ca website BUT you will have to click the option that states, “Book at an offsite studio location” and select Brantford Grade 12 Graduation. Please email Mrs. Mastromatteo if you have any questions!

2.   WELOCME TO SCHOLARSHIP, BURSARY, & AWARD SEASON FOR THE CLASS OF 2025!  Please make sure that you are checking in with your D2L Brightspace page regularly as several opportunities will be posted that require applications.  Class of 2025, please remember that the Steadman Foundation Bursary award opportunity is open at this time.  We have had many ACS College and University bound Lions benefit from this generous foundation over the years.  Lastly to the Class of 2025, for some awards you will need reference letters.  If asking a staff member for a reference, please complete the form on Brightspace and please note that staff members require a minimum of 2 weeks' notice to complete a letter of reference.
