Thursday Sept. 12, 2024

1.   Attention grade 9s. Colour Night is TONIGHT from 3-8pm! Here a few reminders for the event: 

       -  At the end of the day, please place your belongings in your locker, and make your way immediately to the cafeteria to find your team. Grade 12 leaders will be there to help direct you. Please bring a water bottle and wear athletic footwear. 
           By now you should have your wristband with your team colour. You should be wearing this wristband today, and for the whole evening. If you did not receive your wristband yesterday, please speak to your homeroom teacher. Any                           additional questions or concerns can be brought to Ms Ristov in TLC at lunch. 
       -  A reminder that this is a closed event. Re-entry will not be permitted for any student who chooses to leave the school early. As well, any students who are not participating in the event are asked to please leave the school at the end of the               day and not to linger.

2.   The guidance department is hosting a mandatory gr 12 meeting today during  your period 2 Gr 12 class.    If you have an online class, non grade 12 period 2 course or spare in period 2, you are to report to the lecture hall for the meeting.  Important information from this meeting will also be posted on our Gr 12 D2L page.

3.   Thank you to all who tried out for the Junior Boys Volleyball Team, the final list has been posted outside the female phys ed office and practice will start Monday next week after school in the gym. If you cannot attend, please let Ms. Moniz know

4.   Brantford YMCA is excited to offer the Youth Fusion sessions again this school year. All newcomers aged 12-24 are welcome to join each Thursday from 4 -6 p.m. It’s free to join and no commitment is necessary.       The first hour is dedicated to gym use and the second hour is for social activities.            You can earn your 40 hours of community involvement just by attending.   ** BUS TICKETS ARE PROVIDED**       For more information or to register, visit TLC or the school website.

5.   The boys' varsity baseball team has now been posted outside of portable 5.  Thank you to all those that tried out.  Our first practice will be Monday, September 16th at 3:30 pm at Bill Little field.  See Mrs. Lytle in portable 5 if you have any questions. . 

6.   OPA! Were you hoping to travel to Greece over the March Break with the art department? Well, you are in luck - we still have a handful of spots remaining! See Ms. Benoit in room 2015 for an information package and enroll today! The last few spots are first come, first serve, so don't wait long to sign up or you may be disappointed. Also, attention to all those already enrolled in the trip, don't forget to bring your signed permission forms to Ms. Benoit ASAP.

7.   Cross country training continues to practice tonight.  Runners will meet at the picnic tables by the portables. Please ensure that you give your signed permission form to Mrs. Czaplinska-Mastromatteo or Ms. Gomez a.k.a the organized coaches. If you are interested in joining the team, please scan the QR code and pick up a permission form by the physed offices

8.   Do you like to sing? Have you been secretly humming songs between classes? Is music a big part of your life? If you answered 'yes' to even ONE of those questions, then Vocal Ensemble is for YOU! We meet in the music room, #1154, for one hour, starting Tuesday, September 17th from 3pm until 4pm. ALL grades are welcome! See Mrs. Ratelband for more information!

9.   Attention all girls interested in trying out for the field hockey team.  The field hockey tryout dates have changed slightly. Tryouts continue on Thursday this week. Please sign up outside the phys. Ed office and pick up a permission form. Mouth guards and soccer shin pads are mandatory for tryouts and cleats are encouraged. For more information, come to the female phys. Ed office. 

10.   Senior tennis tryouts continue on Thursday this week. See you there.”

11.   Do you like to crochet or knit? Do you wish to make a difference and get to know new lions? Come join the ACS Knit club run by Mrs. Cameron starting in October. 12.   Attention Student Drivers:  If you park in our school lot, please come to the Main Office to register your vehicle and receive your parking pass.  Once you have received your parking pass, please display it prominently in your vehicle.  You have until September 30th to register. 

13.   All lockers are to be secured with a school lock.   Please ensure you are in the correct locker and it has a school lock to avoid your items being removed.   

Cafeteria Special:       Today's special in the servery will be Sauteed potato and cheddar cheese perogies, with caramelized onions with a side of fries for $6.50 or 6 perogies on their own for $5.50 with a side of sour cream.

Monday Sept. 9th, 2024

1.   Attention all grade 9s. Colour Night is THIS THURSDAY! Don't miss out on this fun evening of  games, pizza, and a dance. Tickets for this event are $7, and can be purchased on school cash online until Tuesday, September 10th at 3pm. Wristbands will be distributed to homerooms on Wednesday, but if you purchased your ticket last week you can find out your team early on the list posted on the main office windows. Ticket sales end soon so make sure to buy yours ASAP!

3.   Attention all actors! ATV is hosting auditions for recurring acting roles for this year's promos and videos. Auditions will be held this Tuesday, September 10th in room 1141, right after school. Please prepare a short scene or skit to perform. Break a leg!

4.   Attention music students interested in being in Concert Band: we will have a short meeting on Monday right after school.  You must have previous experience on an instrument to be part of the band.  Looking forward to a great year.  See you Monday after school in the music room.  Please email Mr. G with any questions.

Thursday September 5th, 2024

1. This Friday Sept 6th is the last day to sign up for a semester 1 course change. It will take counsellors into next week before we can see the over 500 students who have signed up so please be patient and continue to follow your current schedule until you are called down.

2. Attention all grade 9s. Student council has planned a special event just for you! Next Thursday, September 12th, is COLOUR NIGHT - a fun filled evening of games, pizza, and a dance. Plus, you get to dress down all day in your team colour! Tickets for this event are $7, and can be purchased on school cash online until Tuesday, September 10th at 3pm. Wristbands will be distributed next Wednesday to homeroom classes. Want to know your team colour early? Be sure to purchase your ticket by the end of the week to find out your team on Monday. Don't miss out on this great event! Any grade 12s interested in volunteering at this event are asked to sign up on the list outside of TLC."

3. FOREEE! Attention all golfers, there will be a meeting Monday the 9th  after school for everyone who wants to tryout for the ACS golf team. This meeting is for both boys and girls teams. 5. Attention all girls interested in trying out for the field hockey team.  No field hockey experience is required but it is encouraged you look up some sport rules prior to attending. Tryouts will be Mon, Wed and Thurs next week at 3:15. Please sign up outside the phys. Ed office and pick up a permission form. Mouth guards and soccer shin pads are mandatory for tryouts and cleats are encouraged. For more information, come to the female phys. Ed office.

6. Attention senior boys volleyball players.  Tryouts will be Thursday and Friday before school this week.  Get a permission form, and scan the QR code by the boys phys ed office today.  Bring your signed permission form tomorrow, we start at 7:00  If you want to try out but are unable to attend Thursday, see Mrs. Denison today

7. Tennis season is starting again. Tryouts for Juniors will begin next week on Monday and Wednesday afterschool. Tryouts for Seniors will be held on Tuesday and Thursday next week. 8. The Senior Football is still looking for some recruits. We need offensive and Defensive linemen. If you want to play with the current city champs, go see Coach Nagy at the football field after school at the upper field.

9. The 2023-2024 Honour Roll recipients who were in Grades 9-11 last school year are posted in the window of the main office outside of the attendance area. If you believe your name has been missed, please report it to the main office for us to look into. Well done to those students who have achieved this level of academic success!

10. Cafeteria Special - Today's special in the servery today will be Pulled pork on a Bun topped with your choice of onions or mozzarella cheese for $6.50 add fries for $7.50.                    Freezies are available for $1.60.
