1.   Congratulations to the March Positive Attendance Award recipients:  Gr 9 -   Amit Bhuva,   Gr 10 - Bhavya Sharma,    Gr 11 - Srivishnuu Srinivasan,     Gr 12 - Taiwo Ademosu.     Please come to the office after announcements to pick up your $20 Cafeteria Gift Card. 

2.   World Autism Day is Thursday April 2nd, this is an opportunity for conversation and celebration of Autism.  ACS will celebrate and show support for Autism by wearing coloured socks on Thursday April 2nd. 

3.   Attention students applying for the Lion/Letter Award. Your status sheet of academic marks and or the optional community service sheet can ONLY be picked up from a Librarian on the Monday following the day you received your application. These sheets will not be given out any other day, but Mondays in the Library. And don’t forget to photocopy your student card for the application.   

4.   Attention STEM students, STEM Olympics will be held the week of April 13th  to April 16th. Create a group of no more than 4 students at the same grade level and sign up outside of room 3005. The week’s events include trivia, as well as grade level, math, and engineering challenges. Don’t miss the chance for your team to be declared STEM Olympics Champions! Sign up today! 

5.   Hey Lions, are you interested in tree planting this year? This amazing opportunity comes around once a year and is now open for those that are interested. There will be approximately 40 spots for students who would like to attend. Please pick up your permission from the social justice bulletin board outside of Guidance. There are 2 opportunities, a morning shift and an afternoon shift. READ it over carefully, and be sure to take a copy of the form for the shift that you would like to go on. You MUST return the signed forms to room 3024 during grade 9 lunch or at the end of the day. Forms are due by the 17th of April. 

6.   Calling all writers looking to win some sweet cash, join the LAC SLAM POETRY CONTEST celebrating April as National Poetry Month! Combining the world of theatre with poetry, perform a clip up to 90 seconds of your original written piece with any theme of your choice! 1st place prize is a $100 cash, 2nd place prize $50, 3rd place: $25. The entries are due by 9:00 AM on Monday, April 27th in the Library D2L. If you have any questions feel free to ask an LAC member or Mrs. Engell in the library!  

7.   Just a friendly reminder that the Yearbook Club will be meeting after school today in Room 2028! 

8.   Don't forget to submit your coffee house auditions to Ms Capostagno by Friday if you want to perform!  

9.   Don’t forget to purchase your bracelet today to help raise awareness and money for the SPCA. They will be sold for $2 each. 

10. Are you taking coop next school year?  Mark this important message on your calendar.  Next week on Thursday, April 9th, there is a mandatory meeting immediately following announcements in the lecture hall. 

11. Today's special in the servery will be Tex Mex Loaded fries or Nachos topped with tex Mex beef, Cheese sauce, Salsa, Green onions and sour cream for $8.25. Nachos and cheese available for $4.99.  Cinnamon buns at 10:15am break. Ice cream cups are back-vanilla, butterscotch ripple and chocolate for $1.75.

1.   Just a heads up that the cafeteria will be closed tomorrow during period one for of our Gr 11 Career Day. 

2.   Hey lions! Do you want to help support animals in need? Trinkets for Treats will be selling animal themed bracelets tomorrow during grade 10 and grade 12 lunch for $2 each.  All donations will go towards supporting the SPCA and the adorable animals they rescue and care for. Come by and get your gorgeous bracelet on today and tomorrow, while helping make a difference for animals in need! 

3.  Just a friendly reminder for all those who are travelling on the England and France trip next year to please pick up your permission form packages from Mrs. McLaughlin in room 2052 on your lunch. You are not eligible to travel if you do not submit the required permission forms. For those still interested in joining the trip, more spots have opened due to overwhelming demand! Come by room 2052 for a flyer and a registration link to ensure your spot before these spots fill up fast and registration closes!  

4.   Boys Soccer tryouts continue today in the gym at 4:30. You must bring your signed permission form to participate.  This is for Grade 9 and 10 boys only. 

5.   Anyone interested in trying out for the ULTIMATE FRISBEE team – there is a meeting today after school.  Bring running shoes in case we can go outside and practise after school today.  Ensure you have filled out the proper permission paperwork that is located outside the girls PE office.  See Ms. Lancaster for more details. 

6.   Music “merch” is in!  If you are a music student and are interested in ordering a hoodie, please see Mr. G. in the music room this week to secure your order.  Also, bonus points awarded to Concert Band members who return signed permission forms.   

7.   Bonjour!  French club will be taking place today in room 2005 at 3pm.  We hope to see you there! 

8.   Attention Lions!  Are you ready for awesome music and candy? Head down to Latino Club today as we celebrate the Locura de Marzo music contest! Come listen, vote, and enjoy Spanish smash hits back-to-back! 3 o’clock in portable 6. 

9.   The due date to drop off applications to join our Prefect Team is now closed. Thank you to all those who met our deadline. We encourage all new applicants to check school email regularly for important updates during the Prefect recruitment.

1.   Big news to share! All five of our OECTA Young Authors Contest winners are moving on to the provincial level. A huge congratulations to Nak-Shaw-Thra Mathan Core, Sanam Godewalla, Erie Olabeesee, Liv Doluveck, and Brooke-Lynn Caruwana for taking their writing to the next stage. This is a major achievement and a chance to represent our school across the province. Winners can come to the library for a certificate on Monday. 

2.   Last call Gr 12’s!!! If you want to be considered for the new volunteer awards at grad- and you need to hand in additional volunteer hours they are due to guidance by Monday March 30th!! There are certificates for Gold, Silver and Bronze amount of hours- check the guidance D2L for the specifics 

3.   Are you attending post-secondary education next year? Could you use an extra $500 to go towards that education? Do you play chess!!?? If you answered yes to all 3 questions, please email Mr. DaCosta by 3pm TODAY to be entered in the bracket. Championships are at North Park where the top 2 Boys and the top 2 Girls will have the chance to compete for the scholarship!

2. Boys Soccer is back! Pick up a permission form and sign up using the QR Code outside the Female Phys-Ed office this week. The Seniors are asked to come to tryouts the week after March Break, and Grade 9s and 10s will be seen the week of March 30th. Please see Mr. DaCosta if you have any questions.

1.  Congratulations to Stanley Owusu, the 2026 Valedictorian.  We look forward to your message of reflection, celebration, and inspiration as we come together to honour this milestone.  Thank you to all of our valedictorian candidates. Your leadership, character, and dedication to our school community were clearly reflected throughout this process. Each of you represented your peers with integrity, and we are proud of the way you stepped forward.

2.   Business SHSM students, how’s your portfolio doing in our Stock Market Challenge.  Please meet with Mr. Virdo in Room 2006 after school today.  This is for all Business SHSM students, meet today in Room 2006 after school for Stock Market Challenge updates.

3.   The 180 Team is meeting this Thursday on the lunch times in the chapel. Come on your scheduled lunchtime. New members are always welcome. 

4.   Reminder to anyone interested in yoga club spirit wear, the last date to order is this THURSDAY MARCH 12. Orders will go in Friday, so spirit wear arrives in a timely manner. We will practice tonight in room 1034 at 3:15. New members welcome!

1.   Introducing a brand‑new library experience! Join us for our first-ever Tea with LAC on Monday, March 9 in the Library Fishbowl after school until approximately 4:30. Enjoy snacks or drinks inspired by different books, listen to exciting book descriptions, and see if you can guess the titles to win fun prizes! This FREE event has limited spots, so be sure to sign up in the library by the end of the day, TODAY. 

2.   Happy Friday Lions! Thank you for choosing the ACS Prefect Program to help you.  We are all out of applications for Prefect Homework Help, Tutoring, and Mentorship for semester 2.  If you’ve applied for one of our free services, please be patient as we review your paperwork and work on activating your sessions. Feel free to check out the Prefect APP on bhnHUB for updates. 

3.   Attention DELF B1 candidates – there will be a DELF help session today at 3.00 in room 2005.  

4.   Attention girls interested in trying out for the varsity soccer team. Please sign up using the QR code on the bulletin board near the female PE office. Please take a permission form and attend the tryouts on Monday and Thursday NEXT week from 3-4:30. Any questions should be directed to coaches Cassano and Ferraccioli. 

5.   A reminder to all Vocal Ensemble members that your solo auditions for “Promises” are due by Friday, March 6th (that’s TODAY!) by midnight. You can post to D2L OR email your auditions to noneill@bhncdsb.ca
