1. A reminder that tonight at midnight is the deadline to submit your Slam Poetry entry to the Library D2L. Entries will be judged by the Library Advisory Council after school on Wednesday. The top 3 performers will earn up to $100 cash! Good luck to all entrants!

3. Do you remember reading “The Outsiders” in gr.8? You know – Ponyboy? Dally? Well, here’s your chance to see it LIVE on stage and bring back those memories! The gr12 class, along with Director Emily Birrell and Assistant Director, Ashlyn Harris, have been working hard for over 2 months! Tickets are $10 and go on sale Thursday May 22nd. You can pick up your tickets during lunches at the back of the cafe or by emailing Mrs. Ratelband at nratelband@bhncdsb.ca Bring extra cash as there will also be snacks available to buy at intermission! Warning: this show does contain violence, flashing lights and loud noises. So let’s support our fellow lions as they take the stage one last time!

6. If you are a music student going on the Canada’s Wonderland trip tomorrow, listen up. You must be at the school at 7:45 tomorrow morning. The bus leaves at 8 and will leave without you. We have a waiting list of students ready and willing to take your spot. Bring your black music t-shirt and dress appropriate for the weather. Remember...be at the school for 7:45a.m.

Because at ACS… it is! Well… Andiamo! The Italy 2026 Trip Information Meetings are happening on Monday, May 26th during all three lunches in the Lecture Hall! All students are welcome, whether you’re just dreaming about pizza in Florence or already signed up faster than Miss Dabrowski can say “San Giovanni Paolo Secondo!” (that’s St. John Paul the Second in Italian, of course!) Already signed up? Fantastico! You should still come, we’ll be talking all about fundraising opportunities to help make this trip more affordable. Don’t stress about the cost, there are numerous ways to fundraise! And here’s some dolce news: the $100 early sign-up discount has been extended until May 31st! So, save some money, pack your crossbody, and get ready to say ciao to bella Italia next March Break. Faith, food, and unforgettable memories await.

1. Attention grade 12 students who are going on the grad retreat. Tuesday morning at 8:45am you are to meet at the school entrance by the portables and tennis courts for your buses. Be sure to bring a refillable water bottle, a hat and sunscreen. Dress for the weather in school- appropriate casual clothing.

7. Happy Asian Heritage Month Lions, ACE invites you to come learn and experience a glimpse of Origami, a traditional aspect of Asian artwork Today! We're exited to be holding a free Origami workshop in the Library Innovation Lab during all three lunches so be sure to check it out!
8. Attention students who signed up for the Let’s Talk Science Cancer Workshop at McMaster. The trip has been cancelled due to lack of fee payment. Refunds will be issued to those students who have paid.

This is a hard deadline: no ifs, ands, or loaves and fishes, because the theatre needs to know how many of you are coming so they can roll out the red carpet, or at least warm up the popcorn. Don’t miss your chance to see the greatest story ever told… on the big screen!

SPORTS:
We’re proud to announce that ACS has WON the AAHBN Track Meet! Our athletes gave an outstanding performance across the board, highlighted by:A new record in the Senior Boys 200m by Zagham, A record-setting run in the Novice Boys 100m by Mubarak, a record setting Long Jump by Rashaad and victories in 4 out of the 6 relay events. A special congratulations goes out to Carling Ruddell who came first in all four of her events. This incredible achievement is a result of hard work, dedication, and team spirit. Congratulations to all the athletes and coaches who made this possible! Good luck at CWOSSA next Friday. Go Lions!

2. Second last day to donate shoes to the Confidence Closer Shoe Drive, Lions! Thank you to everyone who has donated so far, we are very thankful for your generosity and we are so grateful to be able to support these youth and young adults who need these donations. Tomorrow will be the last day of collection so please bring spare shoes if you can!

3. Halfway through the collection dates, Lions! The Confidence Closet Shoe Drive will continue to be collecting shoes during the week during Period 2, please ensure that all shoes are new or gently used to ensure that those who will be receiving these shoes get functional shoes that will not get destroyed as that would not be very helpful to them!

9. A little late- but a huge Congratulations to the ACS Dance Team who competed at the Strive Dance Challenge at the end of April. The dance team placed 5th out of 22 high schools, earned most entertaining dance of the competition, and received several overall awards for solos, duets, trios and groups. If you want a chance to see these dances live and in person please come out to our Dance Showcase “Before We Go” on Tuesday, June 3d at 6:00 pm on the stage. SPORTS:
1. The Varsity Boys Soccer team booked their ticket to the final after a dominating 4-0 victory over McKinnon Park on Monday. Shoutout to Ethan S. to kickoff the scoring with a screamer from 35 yards out. Sebastian M. regained his scoring touch and confidence by finishing 2 quality chances in the second half. Emmanuel U. rounded out the scoring. Greyson V. earned the clean sheet in goal. Come to PJ today to support our soccer teams in the championship game! The girls play at 2pm and the boys follow after at 4pm. Both championship matches will feature our Lions against the St. John’s Green Eagles. Go Lions!!!
2. Your lions girls rugby team has advanced to the AAHBN finals tonight against BCI! Come out and show your support at 5:00 p.m. at Harlequins field. $3.00 for students and $5.00 for adults. If you see them in the hall, wish them luck and get them pumped up!

1. Tomorrow is the Environment Club’s Clothing Swap! Search your closets tonight for 10-15 used clothing items in good condition, and you can swap for some new-to-you clothes in return! All seasons and sizes needed. Light refreshments will be provided. See you there!

1. This year’s spring dance is set for Thursday, May 15th from 6-9pm. The theme is “Spring into Glow”. Get ready for a music-filled night filled with neon and blacklights. Ticket sales for ACS students are available on school cash online from Monday May 5th to Wednesday May 14th. Guest tickets must be purchased in person at the back of the caf May 8th – May 13th. Please remember that guest forms must be completed before a ticket to the dance can be purchased. Guest forms can be picked up in the main office. No late taxi will be provided after the dance.

The goals, (more than one for many) were scored by Alex, Julia, Danika, Arhyanna, Olivia, Brianna, Czeska and Sienna. A special shout out goes to Siena, Emerson, Kate and Lakyn for stepping up to play in net. The girls then played PJ again in their Quarter Final game and won 5-0. Shout out to Evangeline and Mereina for going in net, and to our goal scorers: Mereina, Arhyanna, Sienna, and Julia. Please wish our girls good luck at their Semi-Final game on Monday. Go lions!

1. Congratulations to all of our 2025 Simba Award nominees. We look forward to celebrating with you all tomorrow, Thursday May 8th, at 8am in the Lecture Hall.
2. The annual spring concert is here! And it’s TODAY, Wednesday, May 7th from 7-9pm. Audience members will be treated from budding musicians to seasoned veterans in band and vocal! $5 will get you in to see just how hard the music classes and ensembles are at work! Performers, your call time is in the music room at 6:15pm for band and vocal. Don’t forget to wear “spring attire” like pastels and floral patterns. You don’t want to miss it!
3. On Thursday, May 8th, from 6pm-8pm in the Caf, we will be hosting a Faith night called Faith Over Fear. The tickets can be purchased at the doors that evening. Tomorrow is the last day to purchase your ticket.
