Monday April 7, 2025

1.   Attention Class of 2025.  Several Grad Award and Scholarship applications are now available including the Linda Lancaster Pay It Forward Award, The Kent Dixon Service Award, The Mark G Dixon Award, and the McMillen Scholarship.  See Brightspace for details. 

2.   Are you looking for a fun, relaxing night filled with music, delicious treats, and good company? If so, then coffee house is the place to be! Come on out Thursday April 10th at 6pm for a night packed with entertainment. Tickets are for sale on school cash online for $8. See you there!

3.   Attention all students enrolled in cooperative education next year.  There is a mandatory meeting today in the lecture hall immediately after today’s announcements.  To ensure you will be properly placed, make sure you do not miss this meeting.   

4.   If you missed this morning’s Book club meeting, there will be another one after school today in the library’s Innovation lab. Hope to see you there.   

5.    Hey Lions:  Don’t forget about our LEAP guest speaker on Wednesday during senior lunch in the lecture hall.  Grade 9 and 10 students must sign up, before end of day on Tuesday, for an exit slip.  The list is outside of room 1009.  

6.   There will be a mandatory Senior Co-Ed Volleyball Team meeting during Senior Lunch, today, in Room 1018. Please bring your signed permission forms if you have not already done so. 

7.   Attention semester 2, geography students! You are invited to participate in our geography trip to Niagara Falls on Tuesday, May 6th! Please remember that there are only 45 spots available on the bus, so bring your forms to Mrs. Walsh in room 3024 during your lunch ASAP! Thank you, Mrs. Mastromatteo & Mrs. Walsh! 

8.   Congratulations to all of the Mock Trial teams that participated in Friday’s tournament.  All of the teams did an excellent job.  A special shout out to Emily Wu, Ava Austin, Electra-Jane Hill, Mo-mor-eh Dada and Brooke Caruna for noteworthy performances. 

9.   Attention: STEM students who have registered for the McMaster Road Trip. Online registration DOES NOT guarantee your spot. You must submit signed forms and make online payment. Please submit forms A-SA-P so you are not disappointed!  

10.  Any student interested in joining our 16th Annual Earth Day Tree Planting, on the afternoon of Tuesday April 22nd, is welcome to pick up a permission form from the QUAKE board beside student services. Return the signed form to Mrs. Walsh in Room 3024 on your lunch! First come first serve until the bus is full! 

11.  Today's special in the servery will be Cheese and potato perogies with fries and sauted onions with a side of sour cream for $6.50.   Perogies on their own $5.50.

Tuesday April 1, 2025

1.   Attention all students enrolled in cooperative education next year, yes, next year.  There will be a mandatory meeting held on Monday, April 7 in the lecture hall immediately after announcements.  To ensure you will be properly placed, make sure you do not miss this meeting.   

2.   OSSLT is coming up next week. If anyone would like some practice or tips and tricks, feel free to drop into TLC on your lunch tomorrow and ask for Mrs. Medeiros. 

3.   Attention Grade 11 Students! This Wednesday during period 1, Student Services is hosting a Career Day for you.  We will have professionals representing the following sectors:  The Arts, Business, Community Services, Health Care, Trades and Technology/Engineering.  You will have an opportunity to speak with them about their profession and how to become qualified for it, etc.   If you are a grade 11 student taking a non-grade 11 course, please talk to your homeroom teacher and sign up in student services by Today. 

4.   April is National Poetry Month, and LEAP is hosting a special lunch presentation featuring the talented, published poet and former grad, Ram-neek Pan-chee on Thurs. April 17th in the lecture hall. Grade 10 students and seniors are invited to attend on their lunch, and Grade 9 students can join too by signing up in the library. Attendees will earn 1 LEAP point. 

5.   Head to the library until April 23rd, Shakespeare’s birthday, to test your skills at guessing whether a line is from Shakespeare or Taylor Swift. Guess at least 2 out of 3 correctly, and you'll be entered for a chance to win one of three Amazon gift cards! The contest runs until April 23rd, Shakespeare's birthday, so you have plenty of time to participate. 

6.   Hey Grads! Those of you who missed photos or would like a retake, Edge Imaging has a pop-up studio scheduled for Friday, April 25 at St. Mark’s Church on Memorial Dr. in Brantford.  Appointments can be booked, through the bookmygrad.ca website BUT you will have to click the option that states, “Book at an offsite studio location” and select Brantford Grade 12 Graduation. Please email Mrs. Mastromatteo if you have any questions! 

7.   Attention all boys that have made the first round of cuts for the varsity boys soccer team: Your tryouts will continue today and Wednesday in the gym from 4:30-6pm. Please see Mr. Dyjack or Mr. DaCosta if you cannot attend a tryout. 

8.   Yearbook Club, don’t forget about our weekly meeting today after school in Room 2028! See you there! 

9.   Attention all Fashion Show cast members!  There will be a FULL cast practice this Thursday in the drama room at 3pm.  If you don’t have a costume, please come to room 2060 tomorrow at 3pm.  We have a new batch of costumes that have arrived! 

10.  If you want to be part of our “Faith Over Fear” Faith Night taking place in May, please come to a meeting this Thursday during senior lunch in the lecture hall. We are looking for students who want to sing, plan an activity, give a faith testimony, help with the planning or just want to feel God’s presence that night. This is also open to our staff if you would like to take part in this amazing night. See you on Thursday.  

11.   ULTIMATE FRISBEE BEGINS!   For those students interested in trying out for this year's incredible ULTIMATE FRISBEE team, there will be a meeting tonight in the gym right after school.  If you have not registered for the try outs, please scan the code outside the GIRLS PE OFFICE.  Try outs begin tomorrow.  See Ms. Lancaster if you have any questions. 

12.   Today's special in the servery will be Chicken Quesadillas filled with chicken, salsa, mozzarella cheese, peppers and onions for $6.50.   Cheese quesadilla for $5.50.

1.   Today is the last day to get your pledges in for Assumption Cares.  If you haven’t handed them in by the end of today, you must see Mr. O’Brien in room 3011. Today is the last day to order your Assumption Cares T-Shirts on School Cash Online.  Please ensure you order today by 3PM.  All T-shirts will be distributed to students on April 2nd.

4.   Hey Lions, are you looking for a fun and cozy place to share your musical talent with others? If so, come join us for this year's Spring Coffee House on April 10th at 6pm. Send your audition to Ms. Ristov via email, at dristov@bhncdsb.ca by the end of the day today to perform! 

5.   Attention Prom Committee. Our next meeting is today in the lecture hall. See you all on senior lunch. If you have any questions, see Ms. Mosher, Mrs. S Medeiros or Mrs. Mastromatteo. 

6.   Attention all Senior Boys and Girls Volleyball team members: There will be an important meeting for a tournament opportunity in Hamilton. You are asked to attend a meeting on your senior lunch Today in Room 1018. Permission forms will be distributed. Please see Ms. Denison if you cannot attend. 

7.   STEM Olympians are reminded to come at lunch for the Stem Olympics closing ceremonies. 

8.   Attention all fashion show students! Please check the D2L page regularly for updates on practices.  There will be a practice for all the boys in the cast and for the backstage crew Monday, March 31st at 3pm.  This practice will be 15 minutes long so don’t be late! 

9.   Attention Jack Chapter! There will be a brief meeting today after school in the lecture hall at 3:10. If you cannot attend, please contact Miss Dabrowski. Have a mentally healthy day! 

10.  Today's special in the servery will be cheddar and potato perogies with fries for $6.50. Perogies on their own $5.50. Onion rings  for $4.00.  And Homemade French onion Soup for $4.00.

1.  WELOCME TO SCHOLARSHIP, BURSARY, & AWARD SEASON FOR THE CLASS OF 2025!  Please make sure that you are checking in with your D2L Brightspace page regularly as several opportunities will be posted that require applications.   Class of 2025, please remember that the Steadman Foundation Bursary award opportunity is open at this time.  We have had many ACS College and University bound Lions benefit from this generous foundation over the years.  Lastly to the Class of 2025, for some awards you will need reference letters.  If asking a staff member for a reference, please complete the form on Brightspace and please note that staff members require a minimum of 2 weeks' notice to complete a letter of reference.

5.   DM Julian will be running a session of D&D tomorrow, that’s Thursday, in Room 2073 after school.  Mr. Hare looks forward to seeing old and new members there.
