1.   Attention Grade 9 math students!  Exams are coming up, and extra help is available today and tomorrow in the library after school.   

2.   Do you still need Community Involvement Volunteer Hours.  Walter Gretzky Elementary School is looking for student volunteers for their Fun Fair on Thursday June 19th from 3 – 7 pm.      Please see the guidance D2L pages for more information. 

3.   The countdown is on! Only 3 days left to purchase “The Outsiders” tickets for the show THIS Thursday, May 29th at 7pm! Tickets are $10 and can be purchased on schoolcashonline or during ALL 3 lunches at the back of the caf or by emailing Mrs. Ratelband at nratelband@bhncdsb.ca  IF purchasing on schoolcashonline, you MUST pick up your ticket at the back of the caf. Warning: this show contains violence, flashing lights and loud noises. Let’s support our fellow gr.12 lions as they take the stage one last time! 

4.   June is PRIDE month and it is just around the corner. If you’ve just noticed that you don’t have any ACS PRIDE spirit wear, don’t panic. Our very own Gay-Straight Alliance is selling Assumption PRIDE t- shirts for only $22.60. We have a limited supply, so hurry up and contact Ms. Nuhu to get your PRIDE spirit wear today. 

5.   A friendly reminder that the Yearbook Club will be meeting this afternoon at 3:10p.m. in room 2028. Please come prepared to continue to work on Yearbook pages.   

6.   Attention all participants going to the Jill Of All Trades event tomorrow.  Please meet outside the main entrance at 7:15 AM. Remember to wear closed toe shoes and no sweatpants, no yoga pants, no jeggings, no shorts allowed.  

7.   A big shout out to the Chess club for their 2nd place team effort at Simcoe Composite School. Congratulations to Aiden G., Rhys V., Taylor C., Sajid M., Arham H. And Damien O. Special shout outs to Max D. for his 4th place finish and Shriyak K. for his 3rd place finish overall.

8.   The ACS Gay-Straight Alliance is looking to showcase Assumption’s pride by featuring student-made art and written pieces this June! If you’re interested in submitting your visual arts piece, crocheted work, poetry, and more, email Ms. Whittingham and Avery at jwhittingham@bhncdsb.ca and alerner0406@bhncdsb.ca by May 29th with your submission and short written piece describing your work and how it represents our school and club’s mission! 

9.   Attention all Rugby players who ordered Spirit Wear: Your order has arrived! Please pick it up this week from Ms. Luciani in room 3010 before period 1, during grade 9 lunch, or immediately after school.

11.  Attention Vocal Ensemble – rehearsal is CANCELLED for tonight, however, there’s one more left! It’s only for those who want to sing in the final Mass. For those interested in being cantor, please email Mrs. Ratelband your recordings of “Alleluia” by Friday, May 30th. 

12.  Attention all Extended French students going on the field trip this Friday.  Please return your permission forms to room 2010 ASAP! 

13.  Are you in drama, dance, media art, music, photography, or visual art this year or next year? Then you are invited to come on the ACS Art Trip to New York City in May next year! You could be exploring Central Park, seeing a Broadway show, taking selfies on the Highline, shopping in Times Square, and viewing world-famous art, like Van Gogh’s “Starry Night”, but only if you sign up before spots run out! If you are interested, see Ms. Benoit for more information, or pick up an information package outside of room 2015. Only 5 spots are left, so enroll today!

1.   Attention Grade 12’s attending Prom. Today is the last day for you to check the seating plan to ensure it is correct. See you during senior lunch at the back of the caf. 

2.   Hey Lions! Faith & Fellowship is meeting today during lunch! Join us for conversations about faith, to ask questions, and to be part of our faith community. Grade 10's meet in room 3028, and grade 11/12's in room 3029. Reach out to Kaylee or Brianna Cook with any questions. See you there!   

3.   Hey lions! In celebration of Asian Heritage Month, the ACE Club is hosting a Henna/Mehndi Booth TODAY in the cafeteria during all lunches!  It only lasts until Monday May 26th, and you can get your henna done for $4 per hand side - all funds go to donation to a local charity. 

4.   Tonight’s the night — Jack Spring Karaoke is happening from 6–9 PM in the caf! This is your last chance to grab tickets during all three lunches today. $5 gets you in, feeds you pizza, and enters you for prizes. Don’t miss the music, the madness, and the mic-drop moments!

8.   Attention Jack Chapter, we will be meeting in the cafeteria at 3:10 to set up for karaoke. Please be prompt as we need all hands on deck! 

9.   A reminder to the Jack Chapter to ensure that they pay for their portion of the karaoke tickets during lunch. We need numbers for pizza by 3:00 PM today.

11.  Attention all girls trying out for the girls field lacrosse team. Tryouts will be Monday and Wednesday next week.    

Sports:

1.  Last week, the Varsity Girls Soccer Team fought hard in their final game against St. John’s. Unfortunately, the girls came up short, but the coaches are so proud of their hard work and determination. Shout out to the Grade 12s who will be very missed next soccer season: Julia, Audra, Brianna, Aryhanna, Czeska, and Madison. Thank you for your commitment to the team, and for all the positive memories you contributed to. As for the other girls, we are hoping to see you, and others, next year 

2.  The girls slo-pitch team season came to an end with a second place finish. The girls won theirs first two games against BCI and PJ. The girls moved onto the AABhN final. Leading the entire game, a tough Cayuga team snuck out a win in the bottom of the final inning. It was a great day for this new and fun team! Special shout out to Georgia for her incredible catches in centre field, and Ashlyn for her consistent pitches. All players are reminded to return their uniform to Ms McDade.

1.   Hey Lions...don’t forget to check your school email account regularly! Guidance counsellors send important information about how to sign up for summer school as well to let you know if you got into a waitlisted course ....Don’t miss out! 

2.   If you are graduating this year and not returning, please consider donating your gently used uniform items to TLC. Make sure you see Mrs. Medeiros or Mrs. Bednarz to get your ballots to win some swag. Prizes include Apple Airpods, Owala water bottles, Lulu merch, and gift cards. You can’t win, if you don’t donate. Draw will take place June 25 during the Grad Lunch.

3.   Attention Grade 12’s attending Prom. Tomorrow and Friday are the only opportunities for you to check the seating plan to ensure it is correct. See you during senior lunch at the back of the caf.

10.  Have you ever wanted to walk where the saints walked, eat where the Italians really eat, and laugh your way through the Eternal City with teachers who treat faith, food, and fun like it’s part of the curriculum? Because at ACS… it is! The Italy 2026 Trip Information Meetings are happening on Monday, May 26th during all three lunches in the Lecture Hall! All students are welcome Already signed up? Fantastico! You should still come, we’ll be talking all about fundraising opportunities to help make this trip more affordable. Don’t stress about the cost, there are numerous ways to fundraise! And here’s some dolce news: the $100 early sign-up discount has been extended until May 31st! S Faith, food, and unforgettable memories await.

1.   Attention grade 12 students who are going on the grad retreat. Tuesday morning at 8:45am  you are to meet at the school entrance by the portables and tennis courts for your buses. Be sure to bring a refillable water bottle, a hat and sunscreen. Dress for the weather in school- appropriate casual clothing. 

2.   Hello homeroom teachers!!! Thank you for all of the support with the shoe drive. Today, on this final day we will be collecting in PERIOD 1. Thank you!

7.   Happy Asian Heritage Month Lions, ACE invites you to come learn and experience a glimpse of Origami, a traditional aspect of Asian artwork Today! We're exited to be holding a free Origami workshop in the Library Innovation Lab during all three lunches so be sure to check it out!

8.   Attention students who signed up for the Let’s Talk Science Cancer Workshop at McMaster. The trip has been cancelled due to lack of fee payment. Refunds will be issued to those students who have paid. 

9.   Today is the last day for collecting shoes during Period 2. The tallying will be done and the winning class will be awarded with a pizza party. Thank you to everyone who has participated, it helps these youth and young adults get back on their feet!   

10.  If you borrowed a uniform from TLC, you need to return it ASAP. Any collateral remaining after May 30th will be donated to St. Vincent De Paul.

Miss Dabrowski has just printed off more Italy trip packages, because you're all as excited about pasta and the Pope as she is. If you need a package, swing by her classroom or find her in room 2010 during third period, yes, she’ll be there buried under a mountain of Rome-themed paperwork.  And if you're still undecided, there will be an info session on Monday, May 26th for all interested students, don’t miss it unless you're okay with staying home while your friends reenact scenes from The Lizzie McGuire Movie in real life. 

13.  Hey Lions! Jack Karaoke ticket sales officially begun at all three lunches in the cafeteria! For just $5, you get admission to the greatest musical showdown since your uncle’s wedding, plus two slices of pizza and a shot at winning some awesome prizes, sorry, no autographs from Mr. Martorelli, unless you ask politely on the Italy Trip…. Whether you’re belting out Beyoncé or bravely butchering Bon Jovi, grab your ticket and get ready to sing your heart out on Friday May 23rd! 

14.  Hey Grade 9 second semester Religion students, if you're interested in seeing King of Kings next Friday morning, (and who wouldn't want to kick off the day with a cinematic journey through the life of Jesus?) , make sure you hand in your permission forms to your teachers and pay on School Cash Online by 3:00 PM, today!!! This is a hard deadline: no ifs, ands, or loaves and fishes, because the theatre needs to know how many of you are coming so they can roll out the red carpet, or at least warm up the popcorn. Don’t miss your chance to see the greatest story ever told… on the big screen! 

15.  Attention Grade 12’s. Prom is around the corner. Tickets can be picked up in the main office. Bring your proof of purchase. Also...AND THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT...please send Ms. Mosher a list of who you are sitting with. You do NOT need a full table of 10 to send her a list. This needs to be done by today. If she does not receive this list by today, she will assign you a table.  If you have any questions, please see Ms. Mosher as soon as possible. 

16.  Attention Jack Chapter! There is a short but mandatory meeting at 3:10 in the lecture hall. Looking forward to seeing everyone, then!

SPORTS: 

We’re proud to announce that ACS has WON the AAHBN Track Meet!      Our athletes gave an outstanding performance across the board, highlighted by:A new record in the Senior Boys 200m by Zagham, A record-setting run in the Novice Boys 100m by Mubarak, a record setting Long Jump by Rashaad and victories in 4 out of the 6 relay events. A special congratulations goes out to Carling Ruddell who came first in all four of her events. This incredible achievement is a result of hard work, dedication, and team spirit. Congratulations to all the athletes and coaches who made this possible! Good luck at CWOSSA next Friday.     Go Lions!
