1. Grade 12s! Regarding the grad retreat. Many parents also paid the fee for the grad retreat when they paid the graduation fee. Be sure to check with your parents and ask if they did pay for the grad retreat. You don’t want to miss it if it’s been paid for. They would have notification of payment to confirm.
2. TODAY is the last day to purchase your $5 ticket to the “Rock and Soul” spring concert via schoolcashonline. Once ordered, you must be cleared for entry into the concert by signing in at the admissions table. Find the last name where your tickets were purchased and show them your receipt! Easy peasy!
3. Attention Lions! The LAC is excited to present our brand-new event: the Book Oscars! This is your chance to vote for your favourite books and characters in fun categories like Best Male Character, Best Mystery Book, Best Manga, and more! You can vote by ballots at the display desk in the library or by QR codes around the school. Voting will be open to the entire school, so don’t miss your chance to have your voice heard and help decide this year’s winners.
4. Attention Grade 12’s attending Prom. Please email Ms. Mosher the names of the people you would like to sit with at your table. Each table seats up to 10 people. Even if your group has fewer than 10, please still send the names of everyone in your group. You have until this Thursday to do so. You can pick up your physical ticket at the back of the Caf on your lunch today – please bring your receipt. Also, if you did not get a Prom ticket, there are 20 tickets left – go to the main office and put your name on the list – closes this Thursday. Finally, if any student attending Prom is in need of a dress or suit, please visit room 1035 before or after school today to take a look at the formal wear available in various sizes. If you have any questions, please see Ms. Mosher, Mrs. S. Medeiros, or Mrs. Lou-Kay-Zee (Lucchesi).
5. The Chess club will meet again today in room 2023 after school. Details will be shared on the upcoming tournament, so be sure to attend to book your spot in the tournament.
6. Reminder to the varsity boys’ baseball team of their practice tomorrow (May 13) at Bill Little Field. Practice will run from 3:30pm – 5:00pm.
7. The varsity girls’ soccer team battled hard against SJC in the semi-finals yesterday. Unfortunately, SJC snuck in a second goal, taking the lead and claiming the 2-1 win. Well done to our lady lions for showing up and leaving their heart on the field. What an incredible season from all, especially the seniors who are off to bigger places next year: Alex, Danika, Sierra, Sarah, Haley and Harper. Way to make us proud ladies!
8. The Varsity Boys Soccer Team showed their true identity yesterday with a 3-1 victory over the BCI Mustangs in the semi-final. Eamon N. Scored a brace and Jackson D. Added a great finish to round out the scoring. Tarun A. Was unanimously chosen for man of the match as he shut down BCI’s most dangerous playmaker. The boys have now earned a shot at redemption to take on St. John’s in the final on Thursday at 2pm at North Park. They remember what happened on our home turf and will make sure it won’t happen again. Practice at 7AM tomorrow boys!
9. Attention students! Ticket sales for the Rainbow Ball have concluded. For those of you who purchased a ticket, you will receive more details via email.
10. Calling all singers, dancers and actors! Are you interested in being a part of a MUSICAL next year? If so, please come and meet Ms. Capostagno and Mr. DaCosta in room 2005 on Friday May 15th right after school. We are trying to gauge interest because this cannot happen without YOU!
11. A reminder to all those involved in Band or Vocal Ensemble and travelling to Canada’s Wonderland. You must pick up your mandatory t-shirt for $15 in the music room ASAP! We are marked on our appearance and must be in our music attire.
12. Hey Lions! If they haven't done so already, students travelling on the England & France trip are asked to come by Room 2052 or Room 1004 to pick up their trip permission forms package. Please return the signed forms with a photocopy of your passport to Mrs. McLaughlin before Monday, June 1st. Remember, these are important documents that allow you to travel!
13. Tuesday's special in the servery will be Mac and cheese with a side of garlic toast $5.75. This week we will have Bento Sushi available -while supplies last for $9.49. Just a friendly reminder to those honour roll students that received a "You Earned a Sweet Reward!" coupon to please dig it out of your package and redeem it so I can bill the boss. During your assigned lunch period, you’ll have the opportunity to explore booths from 15 local organizations dedicated to supporting your well-being. 3. A big congratulations to our ACS Concert Band for putting on a flawless performance at the Sanderson Centre last night. Their version of Bohemian Rhapsody re-imagined the original 1975 lyrics to include the themes of poverty, messages of hope and the life of Jesus. A special shout-out to Peyton for learning Brian May’s iconic guitar solo and playing it on tenor sax. Also, a shout-out to Felix for putting together the slideshow that played during the band’s performance. Well done Lions! Looking forward to next week’s Spring Concert.

3. Hey Lions, next week is Catholic Education week. From Monday May 4th, to Friday May 8th, the social justice class is arranging a hygiene product collection. This type of collection helps our community and those in need. The items will be donated to various shelters and organizations in Brantford that work with those who are less fortunate. We will be accepting products such as deodorant, tooth brushes and toothpaste, hairbrushes, shampoos/ conditioners, and feminine hygiene products. Please bring these items into your homeroom class. On the last day of the drive, MAY 8, students from the grade 12 social justice class will collect all donated products from each homeroom and the class with the highest tally will be rewarded with donuts!! Thank you Mr. Duff for the donuts and to all the homeroom teachers for your help.
4. A huge congratulations goes out to the ACS Dance Team. They competed this past week at the Strive Dance Challenge against 27 other schools and and received the award for 5th overall team. This is a huge accomplishment! Our dancers were also awarded “Most Entertaining” of the competition, “Overall Elite Line” and “Judges Choice”. Shout out to Dani, Emily, Favour, Shauneilia, Joan, Briella, Isla, Lily, Kaylee, Sophie, Ali, & Caylee for their overall awards. Our small but mighty team made ACS proud! Come out to the Dance Showcase on June 9th in the cafeteria to see these fabulous dancers perform these award winning routines!
5. If you are a music student please listen up: Concert Band members are reminded of their permission forms due for the Sanderson Centre performance this Tuesday. Students attending the Canada’s Wonderland performance are reminded to pay for the Canada’s Wonderland performance on School Cash Online TODAY, otherwise we are going to offer your spot to other music students. Lastly, make sure to pay for your music t-shirt which is required for the Wonderland trip.

5. Today is the day! If you purchased a Buy-In ticket to today’s boys soccer game, come to the back of the cafeteria on your lunch to receive your wristband. Only those who purchased their ticket yesterday are eligible to attend the match. Go to your 4th period class for attendance and an announcement will be made for your dismissal to go to the field with the track behind the school. There is NO RE-ENTRY. Once you are in, you are in!
6. The quake politics club meets today in room 1013 from 3:15-4:00. Today’s topics are the political spectrum and th war in Iran. Everyone is welcome.
7. Monday afternoon, the varsity girls rugby squad stormed into their regular season opener, taking down PJ in convincing fashion. It didn’t take long for the Lions to tickle the try line, with early tries from Selene, Victoria, Emmerson, and Vanny, setting the tone right out of the gate. As the game continued, they didn’t let up. Peyton added to the tally, Maddy B. powered through for a pair, Eden slipped one over the line, and rookie sensations Natayla and Michelle joined the party with tries of their own. From the tee, it was nothing short of clinical, Heidi, Victoria, and Pheonix were absolute aces, drilling 11 of 13 conversions to keep the pressure firmly on. Defensively, Kiah and Ali A. stood tall, shutting things down and protecting the line with authority. A Strong performance from start to finish, great work, Lions. Keep that momentum rolling as you head into the Centennial Cup this week.

1. This year’s spring dance is Thursday from 6-9pm, and the theme is 90s throwback! Ticket sales continue this week on school cash online. Don’t forget to get your ticket today!
2. Today is the day! On School Cash Online, for $4, you can Buy in to our Boys and Girls soccer games tomorrow at 2pm. Buy today! Tomorrow you will go to the back of the cafeteria on your lunch and show your proof of purchase, and receive a wristband. There is NO re-entry into the event. Make sure to check in with your 4th period teachers before purchasing. ACS and St. John’s have identical 4-0 records, with SJC have scored 21 goals and conceding once. Our Lions have scored 16 goals across the 4 matches and have not conceded a goal this season. This is a shot at redemption from last year’s final that you don’t want to miss! Note: there will be a CASH ONLY concession set up at the game, selling some of your favourite sweet treats!

All students in grade 12 are invited to attend the Grad retreat even if you will not be graduating this year. Enjoy a day outdoors at camp Marydale with your friends and a barbeque lunch. 5. The final environmental fast fact for this week is: our choices impact climate change. Climate change is driven by human activity, but that also means people can help slow it. Walking, biking, using public transit, and reducing energy use at home are small actions that add up.
