The 2024 Vision STEM Conference is closing registration on Friday (TODAY) at 3pm. There is currently over 750 students attending, 260 of which are from Assumption. Don't miss out of this AWESOME opportunity on May 1st. Register TODAY!
There will be a very important Track and Field meeting prior to practice on Monday, for any students wanting to participate on the Track team. If you intend to participate, your attendance at this meeting and at practice on Monday is mandatory.
All Grade 12 students are invited to attend the Grad Retreat on Tuesday May 21st. It's an awesome day outside and spending time hanging out with friends. The deadline for online payment is May 6, just 3 weeks away. Also you must pick up a Grad Retreat permission form which are available in a folder outside of the Chaplain's Office.
Attention Lions! You are invited to join Assumption's 15th Annual Tree Planting trip, happening at Brant Park on Monday April 22nd. This is a free event, including bussing and a light lunch. We will leave Assumption at noon and return by the end of the school day. Permission Forms are available on the QUAKE board beside Student Services, and can be returned to Mrs. Walsh in Room 3010. Spaces are limited - First Come First Served!
Attention Grade 11s! The time has come! The Religions and Humanities Department has organized a trip for all students enrolled in Grade 11 World Religions to Toronto. The exploration will take place on Thursday, May 2nd, and it will be all day! Students will be leaving Assumption at 9AM and coming back in the evening. Please ensure to arrange a ride! The cost of the trip is $25 which includes transportation and tours! The deadline to hand in your forms and contacts is Thursday, April 25th , so sign up quick to secure your spot!!! Lions, If you are between the ages of 14-18, the YMCA has a great offer for you. Starting Tuesday April 16th, the Y.E.S. program (Youth Engagement Series) is offered each Tuesday from 4-6 at the Y. After completion, you will receive volunteer hours as well as a complimentary 3 month YMCA membership. Attend the 6 week program and learn about various topics offered by Brantford Police Services. Snacks are provided as well as transportation if necessary. If interested, please check the school website for more details or the bulletin board in TLC.

Did you know that earth day has its own flag and theme song; the flag was created in 1970 by peace activist, John McConnell and the song was written in 2013 by Indian poet Abhay Kumar. That's right Lions, Earth day is coming up and we are preparing to celebrate! Things you can do include:

- You can plan ahead to participate in the recycled art contest on April 15 during both lunches

Attention all athletes interested in trying out for the ultimate frisbee team. The first tryout is for grade 9/10s and it is TODAY after school. The first tryout for grades 11/12 is tomorrow, Wednesday at 3:15pm. All interested participants need to scan the QR code to sign up and bring a signed permission form.
The Chess Club will meet in Room 2023 after school today. All members interested in participating in a tournament in May should attend the meeting for more information.
The Varsity Girls Soccer team will practice TODAY and Thursday after school. Plan to be outdoors but be prepared with footwear and clothing for indoor as well. Please contact coaches Cassano, Ferraccioli and Hynes if you have any questions.

Attention Vocal Ensemble: please turn your forms in to attend the rehearsal at the Sanderson Center on Tuesday, April 9th. A reminder that we are leaving from the music room entrance by the field at 12:20pm. If you cannot attend the performance on Tuesday, April 30th at 7pm, then you need not attend the rehearsal. Members of the Junior and Senior Badminton teams need to check in with their coaches in preparation for the AABHN tournaments this week. Juniors play at ACS on Wednesday and Seniors at St. John's on Thursday. All athletes need to be at their tournament locations for 8 am. Good luck Lions!

If your bus arrives after that time then you must find an alternative way to arrive to the school. Those who are traveling from Caledonia please try and carpool together. If you are a Student who has been accepted to a University or College program in Science and Technology and have achieved over 90% average on your top 6 University or Mixed level courses, including at least 2 sciences, have been a resident of Brantford or Brant County for your final 3 years of high school, are interested in scientific research, and would like to be interviewed and considered for the Hillier Scholarship, please sign up in Student Services. This is the first step of the nomination process. Sign-up by Tuesday April 9th.

Ms. Torto’s social justice class is challenging ACS to collect books for St. Vincent De Paul! St. Vincent De Paul is running a program called Beds for Kids and as an additional gift they provide a bag of books to each child to encourage reading! So, we want everyone to bring gently used or new books to school and drop them off in the library! Books for all ages are accepted! For every book you donate, you can fill out a ballot for a chance to win a $25 amazon gift card! So, bring in your books and make a difference!

Ms. Torto’s social justice class is challenging ACS to collect books for St. Vincent De Paul! St. Vincent De Paul is running a program called Beds for Kids and as an additional gift they provide a bag of books to each child to encourage reading! So, we want everyone to bring gently used or new books to school and drop them off in the library! Books for all ages are accepted! For every book you donate, you can fill out a ballot for a chance to win a $25 amazon gift card! So, bring in your books and make a difference!

Attention all students who are participating in Assumption Cares. Next week is bank week, so you must have your $100 in pledges collected. Money can be handed in at lunch in the cafeteria. We will also have a meeting TODAY in the Lecture Hall to talk about what to expect from Assumption Cares. If you have any questions, please see Mr. O’Brien in Room 3011 before school this week.
If any Senior Badminton players need a cab for their game at PJC tonight, they need to let Mr. Dyjack know by the end of Period 1. Also, senior players will be dismissed at 2:35pm today for their game.

Monday April 8th, despite being a PA Day, we have a Solar Eclipse starting at 2:00pm and peeking at 3:15pm. Make sure you have a pair of glasses to watch the event! That evening at the Sanderson Center at 7:00pm, the Hillier foundation is hosting Jane Goodall, an English primatologist and anthropologist. She is considered the world's foremost expert on chimpanzees, after 60 years' studying the social and family interactions of wild chimpanzees. Mr. Page has 85 tickets available to STEM students.
