Morning Announcements

Welcome to Day 5 of the 12 Days of Spirit Lions! Today we have Christmas Arts and Crafts in the Library at lunch. Come on out to the fishbowl if you would like to participate. A reminder that tomorrow is Ugly Christmas Sweater Day. You may replace your uniform tops with an ugly Christmas sweater, but uniform bottoms and shoes must be worn.  

The GSA or Gay Straight Alliance is meeting today. The first lunch meeting has been moved to Portable 15. The second lunch group will be meeting in the Library Reading Room. 

Badminton training continues this week. Junior's will be practicing on Friday at 7am and Seniors will be practicing Thursday at 7am. More forms are available for pickup by the male Phys Ed office.

Dear ACS Knitting Club.  Hope to see you TODAY after school from 3-4pm in Portable 17. If you are not able to make it after school, please attend during 3A lunch. Hope to see you there! Thank you for all you do!

Attention Gr 12 SHSM students, 45 of you will be attending mandatory First Aid and CPR training on Monday and Tuesday. Check the full participant list on the student services window. Also, check your email for an important message from Ms. Coene. Remember: permission forms are due to student services by Fri. Dec. 15th. 

Attention Hockey Fans and Christmas Shoppers!  Are you interested in winning two tickets to see the Brantford Bulldogs take on the Barrie Colts over the Christmas holidays?  A raffle, in support of our Pennies From Heaven campaign, is taking place the week and you have the chance to win a pair of hockey tickets valued at $75!  To enter the draw, you can purchase raffle tickets in the cafeteria during both lunches until Thursday morning.  Tickets are 1 for $2 or 3 for $5.  Cash only please.  If you are not able to buy them on your lunch, please see Mrs. Perkins in Room 2006 to purchase your tickets.  Good luck and thank you for supporting this worthy cause!

Attention Graduating students.  A reminder to explore the Scholarship Suggestion Chart as well as the individual college and university websites that you have applied to for scholarship opportunities.  Please look at the criteria on D2L and sign up in Student Services by December 15th if you meet the criteria and you are interested in being considered as the Assumption College nominee(s) for The Western National Scholarship and The Schulich Leadership in STEM Scholarship.

Thank-you to the hundreds of students who have applied to receive Prefect Homework Help and Mentorship this semester and to our wonderful staff for your ongoing support and a HUGE thank-you to our ACS Prefects as they continue to serve the needs of so many as servant leaders.  Lions, FRIDAY. Dec 15 is the LAST DAY for YOU to pick-up and drop-off an application in STUDENT SERVICES to receive Prefect help during semester 1.  Don’t wait too long as applications are limited.  On behalf of the ACS Prefect Program, we wish you a Merry Christmas and look forward to seeing you in the New Year!

Shortened classes in the morning, a turkey dinner lunch, and our Spirit of Christmas Assembly in the afternoon. There is plenty of fun to be had by all! The turkey dinner lunch costs only $5, but must be purchased in advance on school cash online. Vegetarian and Halal options are available. Sales will occur from Thursday, December 7th to Sunday, December 17th. Don't miss out on this delicious opportunity!"

December Leap Writing Contest.  We have entered the season of Advent.  A time for Christians to prepare for the coming of the Messiah, Jesus Christ.  It is a time of Hope, Joy, Peace, and Love.  Your writing challenge is to create a story (fiction or non-fiction) or poem that celebrates either Hope, Joy, Peace, or Love!  As the writer, you decide which of the four virtues you would like to celebrate in your writing.  Be creative, use your imagination and skills to uplift your readers with Hope, Joy, Peace, and Love!  Please limit your submission to 300 words or less (if you go over, no problem).  Please submit your writing pieces to Mrs. Bowen by Monday, December 18th!  Winners will be announced by Thursday, December 21st.  Looking forward to reading your submission, Leapsters!

The 2022-2023 Yearbooks are still available! Students who paid their 2022-2023 Student Fee can pick up at the back of the cafeteria TODAY during both lunches. First period Co-op, Spare and Online students can go to the Library any time to pick up. Class of 2023 Grads can pick up in the Main Office or have a friend/sibling pick up for them.

It's FREE! however, we're asking for non-perishable food items to help those in need. It features concert band, vocal ensemble, guitar, instrumental and vocal classes plus soloists! There is a volunteer opportunity to help the food bank. If you are interested, please come to student services at your lunch today and speak with Ms. Coene for more information.

Hey Lions! Student Council is proud to introduce the 12 Days of Spirit! Every day until Christmas Break, Council has planned exciting activities, games, and theme days to bring us into the Holiday season. Today is DAY 1 and marks the start of the Christmas Card Decorating Contest. Homeroom classes will be provided with paper to create a giant Christmas Card for a chance to win prizes for their class. Details have been emailed to staff and cards will be judged during the final two days before the break. Get decorating! May the best class win! Tomorrow is Christmas Hat and Accessory Day, so come prepared to show off your spirit.

Attention staff and students who ordered Poinsettias.  The plants will be here ready to be picked up Wednesday December 6th at the end of the day.  All students and staff must come to the gym.  If you have a lot of plants to deliver, ensure you arrange for someone to pick you up after school.  All plants must be picked up Wednesday.  Thanks again to all staff and students who supported this fundraiser!

 The CWAYC model United Nations is taking place on Monday December 11th.  Delegates, your preparations should be well underway.  Help sessions are available this week on Tuesday and Thursday after school, in the library.  Remember to check your email regularly.  See you Monday!

Attention Vocal Ensemble, a reminder your rehearsal is extended from 3pm to 4:30pm on Tuesday, December 5th. Also, don't forget your $10 for your music t-shirts - you'll need them to tour the elementary schools this Friday. See Mrs. Ratelband if this is an issue.

The Latino Club will be hosting an event with prayer and discussion to celebrate the day of the candles and our lady of Guadalupe. It will take place in the Lecture Hall on Friday December 8th during the last half of both lunches. Students are reminded to bring battery operated candles. If you have any questions please feel free to ask Mr Bender in Room 1034.

A new shipment of spirit wear has arrived! We now have orders up to 739. Come by the student council office on your lunch to pick up your order!

The Giving Tree is set up on the second floor and is full of different denominations of gift cards that we will be using to provide our families with through the Pennies from Heaven Campaign.
