Good morning Lions and welcome to Day 7 of the 12 Days of Spirit! Do you need something fun to do on your lunch today? Come on up to the Lecture Hall and enjoy a Christmas movie during both lunches. On Monday, Student Council will be offering polaroid pictures in front of the Christmas tree. The cost per print is $1 so make sure to bring some change if you would like to participate. 

The Jack Chapter will have a short meeting from 3:05-3:30pm today in Portable 3. It is very important to establish ticket sales. Have a mentally healthy weekend!

The deadline for the December Leap writing contest is fast approaching.  Submit your story (fiction or non-fiction), poem, or essay with a message of Hope, Peace, Love or Joy by Monday, December 18th.  Your submissions can be emailed to Mrs. Bowen.  Please see the LEAP D2L page for more details.  Happy writing, Leapster!

Dear ACS Knit Club.  Our meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 19th from 3-4pm in Portable 17. We are ready to deliver the scarfs to our local shelter and make a delivery to our nurse at McMaster for the babies.  If anyone in the school has an idea for our next crochet project email Mrs. Cameron. 

Attention musicians!  Are you looking for a chance to practice and perform with other talented students your age?  The ACS Junior Band will begin in the New Year.  We are looking for dedicated students who are willing to commit to practicing and attending weekly rehearsals.  A brief information meeting will be held this Wednesday, December 20th at 3pm in the music room to discuss the 2 performances scheduled so far in 2024, as well as what music we will be playing.  Please email Mr. G. if you have any questions.

Welcome to Day 5 of the 12 Days of Spirit Lions! Today we have Christmas Arts and Crafts in the Library at lunch. Come on out to the fishbowl if you would like to participate. A reminder that tomorrow is Ugly Christmas Sweater Day. You may replace your uniform tops with an ugly Christmas sweater, but uniform bottoms and shoes must be worn.  

The GSA or Gay Straight Alliance is meeting today. The first lunch meeting has been moved to Portable 15. The second lunch group will be meeting in the Library Reading Room. 

Badminton training continues this week. Junior's will be practicing on Friday at 7am and Seniors will be practicing Thursday at 7am. More forms are available for pickup by the male Phys Ed office.

The 2022-2023 Yearbooks are still available! Students who paid their 2022-2023 Student Fee can pick up at the back of the cafeteria TODAY during both lunches. First period Co-op, Spare and Online students can go to the Library any time to pick up. Class of 2023 Grads can pick up in the Main Office or have a friend/sibling pick up for them.  

Are you needing to get into the Christmas spirit? Why not come to the music Christmas concert TONIGHT at 7pm in the cafetorium? It's FREE! however, we're asking for non-perishable food items to help those in need. It features concert band, vocal ensemble, guitar, instrumental and vocal classes plus soloists! Call time for all performers is 6:30pm in the Music Room. See you there!

Hey Lions! Student Council is proud to introduce the 12 Days of Spirit! Every day until Christmas Break, Council has planned exciting activities, games, and theme days to bring us into the Holiday season. Today is DAY 1 and marks the start of the Christmas Card Decorating Contest. Homeroom classes will be provided with paper to create a giant Christmas Card for a chance to win prizes for their class. Details have been emailed to staff and cards will be judged during the final two days before the break. Get decorating! May the best class win! Attention staff and students who ordered Poinsettias.  The plants will be here ready to be picked up TODAY at the end of the day.  All students and staff must come to the gym.  If you have a lot of plants to deliver, ensure you arrange for someone to pick you up after school.  All plants must be picked up TODAY.  Thanks again to all staff and students who supported this fundraiser!

The CWAYC model United Nations is taking place on Monday December 11th.  Delegates, your preparations should be well underway.  Help sessions are available TOMORROW after school, in the Library.  Remember to check your email regularly.  See you Monday!

The Latino Club will be hosting an event with prayer and discussion to celebrate the day of the candles and our lady of Guadalupe. It will take place in the Lecture Hall on Friday December 8th during the last half of both lunches. Students are reminded to bring battery operated candles. If you have any questions please feel free to ask Mr Bender in Room 1034.

The Giving Tree is set up on the second floor and is full of different denominations of gift cards that we will be using to provide our families with through the Pennies from Heaven Campaign. If you purchase a card, please drop it off in the main office. Please consider taking a tag and supporting our families.  Thank you from the Social Justice class.

Today's Book Club meetings will be held in the library's Reading Room during both lunches. Don't forget it's potluck today but please bring your lunch as well. Look forward to seeing you there.

Badminton practices will begin this week. Juniors will be practicing Tuesday at 7am and Seniors will be practicing Thursday 7am. Please bring your signed permission form to the first practice. 

Attention Grade 11 and 12 Students.  Mme Pace is looking for volunteers to run French club this year.  If you are interested, please see Mme Pace tomorrow. First lunch in Room 2004 or second lunch in the Library.

Attention Vocal Ensemble, a reminder your rehearsal is extended from 3pm to 4:30pm on Tuesday, December 5th. Also, don't forget your $10 for your music t-shirts - you'll need them to tour the elementary schools this Friday. See Mrs. Ratelband if this is an issue.

Are you needing to get into the Christmas spirit? Why not come to the music Christmas concert on Thursday, December 7th at 7pm in the cafetorium? It's FREE! however, we're asking for non-perishable food items to help those in need. It features concert band, vocal ensemble, guitar, instrumental and vocal classes plus soloists! Call time for all performers is 6:30pm in the Music Room. See you there!

Attention 2024 Graduates!  If you want to participate in the graduation ceremony in June, you need to register for graduation on the Grade 12 D2L page.  The deadline for registration and grad fee payment is Friday, December 8th.   Register today!

The Latino Club will be hosting an event with prayer and discussion to celebrate the day of the candles and our lady of Guadalupe. It will take place in the Lecture Hall on Friday December 8th during the last half of both lunches. Students are reminded to bring battery operated candles. The Community Skate Exchange returns this winter. Donate, exchange or pick-up a free pair of gently-used ice skates each Wednesday from December 6 to December 13, 2023 and January 10 to February 14, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Harmony Square main office. Community members in need of ice skates, or looking to exchange their old ones for a new size, are encouraged to attend.

The Metis Nation of Ontario (MNO) is organizing a Youth Cultural Camp for Métis youth (grade 10 to 12) to participate in cultural activities in-person.  The camp will celebrate Métis history as well as traditional and contemporary way of life and culture.  Please see the Guidance D2L page for more information.
