The Black Heritage Month Assembly is a few short months away and we need to begin dance practices this week. If you are interested in preforming, come to our first practice on Thursday, October 19th in Portable 18 from 3:15-4:15pm. Attention Lions - CWAYC is once again hosting the Thank a Vet speech writing competition.  In approximately 500 words, what would you say to thank and honour a Canadian veteran?  Students can submit a speech, story, poem, letter, reflection, or song to the basket in the main office.  The contest closes on October 31st.  Winners will be announced on Friday November 3rd.  See the CWAYC bulletin board for details or drop by Room 1013.

Hey Lions, are you musically inclined? Do you enjoy performing in front of others? If so, student council is hosting an event just for you! Coffee house is on November 15th, and we would love to see you perform. This year, auditions will be submitted virtually. Please record a short 30 - 45 second video of you performing and email it to Ms. Ristov no later than Monday October 30th. Looking forward to seeing your amazing talents!

This is a reminder to all Staff and Students that the Legal Changemaker Scavenger Hunt will close on Monday, Oct. 30th at 3:00 pm.  There is still time to read the 14 posters at the front of the Caf and to submit the Changemakers’ names to the contest.  The QR Code and link are posted with the biographies.  One entry per person—and those who identify all 14 people successfully will be entered into a draw to win a prize!  Don’t delay!  Learn about these amazing Legal Changemakers today!

Are you interested in policing?  Wanna know what's involved in becoming a police officer? Come to the Lecture Hall during either lunch TODAY and meet Provincial Detective Kesh Staffen, a graduate of ACS.  He'll "tell it like it is" and share his personal experiences as an OPP officer and now a detective in the Crime Unit.

All Retreat Leaders for the grade 9 mini retreats are to check their school email for the leader schedule for this Thursday's and Friday's retreats. 

There will be a brief cross country meeting at lunch to discuss transportation to your AABHN run tomorrow at Mohawk park.  The organized coaches will be leading the meetings.  Grade 10s and 12s please meet Coach Czaplinska-Mastromatteo in Room 3015.  Grade 9s and 11s please meet Coach Gomez in Room 1004.

There will be a Boys Baseball practice TODAY from 3:30 to 5:30pm at Bill Little Park.  Please let Mrs. Lytle or Miss Robitaille know if you cannot attend.

D&D club members who have not received an email from Mr. Hare and those with an interest in being a Dungeon Master will meet Tuesday in Room 2006 after school.

Staff and students—this invitation is for each of you!  As a commitment to reconciliation, the Grade 11 Law class has been exploring Indigenous Legal Changemakers from across Canada.  These are individuals who have participated in advocacy projects, legal change, and some important Canadian cases.  We have learned so much, we wanted to invite all Staff and students to join us on our learning journey by participating in a Changemaker Scavenger Hunt.  There are fourteen posters on the wall at the front of the Caf containing an anonymous biography of one of these Changemakers.   Over the next week, we invite you to read the posters and try to identify each person by name and to submit your answers using the provided QR Code or link.   If you get all FOURTEEN individuals correct, you will be entered into a draw to win a prize!  Specific instructions and links are posted with the posters too.  One entry per person, and the contest ends Monday, October 30th at 3:00 pm.  Happy researching!

Attention Lions!  Our next Casual Dress Day will take place on Tuesday, October 17th.  Due to Parent-Teacher Interviews on Wednesday, we have moved this casual dress up a day.  Don't forget your $2 to dress casually.  All money collected will go to the Society of St. Vincent DePaul.

On Oct 16 and 17, ACS is hosting a Haudenosaunee Onkwehonwe Traditional Tobacco Workshop with PhD candidate, Kody Doxtater, Six Nations Mohawk.  All invited students will be taking their lunch from 11:35am to 12:20pm. Students are expected to be in the Fishbowl at 12:20pm as the workshop runs both days during period 3B and 4.  Teachers, please see the email from Ms. Johns for more information.

A reminder to all participants in We Scare Hunger.  We cannot assign a route to any group that has not completed all of their paperwork.  Please make sure that every individual has a signed permission form, and that every team has the team sheet with both sides filled out and handed in.  All paperwork can be handed in to Student Services.

A reminder to all interested students that the 'What does Canada mean to you?" competition ends TODAY, Friday October 13th.  All submissions must be uploaded directly to the project website.  See details on the CWAYC bulletin board outside student services.

The Jack Chapter will have their very first meeting TODAY, Friday October 13th, at 3:05pm in the Lecture Hall. This is a mandatory meeting.  If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to one of the Dabrowski sisters.  Thank you and have a mentally healthy day.

Homecoming Dance is THIS THURSDAY Lions, and tickets are going fast! A reminder that ticket sales for ACS students will continue this week on school cash online until Wednesday. NO cash sales will be accepted at the door. Students attending the dance, please keep the following in mind:

-No resold or traded tickets will be accepted at the door. If you are no longer able to attend the event, please reach out to Ms. Ristov for a refund. You MAY NOT sell or give your ticket to a friend. 
-On the night of the dance, please remember to bring your ACS student card or another form of picture ID in order to confirm your identity. Please note we will be using the STUDENT ENTRANCE for this event. Doors will remain open for admission from 6pm to 7pm. No late admissions will be allowed without prior approval. 
-Please remember that access to lockers will not be available during the dance, and you will not be permitted to leave the dance and return. Please make sure you have everything you need with you when you arrive. Coat check will be available for bags and other items if needed. 
-If you need a late taxi to Caledonia for after the dance, requests must be made in the main office by no later than 12:00 pm on the day of the dance. 
-The Homecoming Dance theme is School Spirit. Dress to excess in spirit wear and school colours. Please remember that outfits must adhere to the student code of conduct and should reflect the moral tone of Assumption College School.

The varsity Boys Baseball Team will meet today for practice from 3:30 PM until 5:30 PM at Bill Little Field. There will be a very brief, but mandatory, meeting in portable five for all members of the varsity boys baseball team before you leave today for practice. I promise you will not miss your ride.

Student council has received a new shipment of spirit wear orders. We now have order numbers 475-643. Please stop by the student council office on your lunch today to pick up your orders. We still have lots of unclaimed orders. If you placed an order in August or September it is likely your spirit wear is here. Please check your order numbers for confirmation.

In the spirit of Halloween, LEAP presents a creative writing challenge from the horror genre.  Warning: for those who dare to write, side effects include (but are not limited to): insomnia, paranoia, night terrors, and vomiting.  LEAP is not liable and accepts no responsibility.  Enter at your own risk. Spots are very limited, so apply as soon as possible. Applications are due back by Friday October 13th at the latest!

Homecoming Dance is THIS THURSDAY Lions, and tickets are going fast! A reminder that ticket sales for ACS students will continue this week on school cash online until Wednesday. NO cash sales will be accepted at the door. Students attending the dance, please keep the following in mind:
-No resold or traded tickets will be accepted at the door. If you are no longer able to attend the event, please reach out to Ms Ristov for a refund. You MAY NOT sell or give your ticket to a friend. 
-On the night of the dance, please remember to bring your ACS student card or another form of picture ID in order to confirm your identity. Please note we will be using the STUDENT ENTRANCE for this event. Doors will remain open for admission from 6pm to 7pm. No late admissions will be allowed without prior approval. 
-Please remember that access to lockers will not be available during the dance, and you will not be permitted to leave the dance and return. Please make sure you have everything you need with you when you arrive. Coat check will be available for bags and other items if needed. 
-If you need a late taxi to Caledonia for after the dance, requests must be made in the main office by no later than 12:00 pm on the day of the dance. 
-The Homecoming Dance theme is School Spirit. Dress to excess in spirit wear and school colours. Please remember that outfits must adhere to the student code of conduct, and should reflect the moral tone of Assumption College School.

TODAY is the last day for the 180 Team to hand in their permission forms for their retreat that is taking place next week on Tuesday. 

Thank you everyone for your interest in the We Scare Hunger.  Don't forget that your forms are due to the box in students services ASAP.  Please drop them off before school of after school. and be sure that you have your team form and individual forms signed.  The deadline to hand in these forms is period 1 on TUESDAY OCTOBER 10th.  

Student council has received a new shipment of spirit wear orders. We now have order numbers 475-643. Please stop by the student council office on your lunch today to pick up your orders. We still have lots of unclaimed orders. If you placed an order in August or September it is likely your spirit wear is here. Please check your order numbers for confirmation.

Dear ACS Knitting Club.  There is no meeting this week. We will meet next Thursday, October 12th after school from 3 to 4pm in Portable 17. See you then! Come and grab more yarn if you need any before/after school. Thank you for working on your yarn creations.

In the spirit of Halloween, LEAP presents a creative writing challenge from the horror genre.  Warning: for those who dare to write, side effects include (but are not limited to): insomnia, paranoia, night terrors, and vomiting.  LEAP is not liable and accepts no responsibility.  Enter at your own risk. Visit the LEAP bulletin board outside of Student Services, log onto LEAP’s D2L/Brightspace page, or stop by TLC on your lunch for more details.  Deadline for submissions: before nightfall on the 23rd of October. The Brant County Health Unit will be resuming the program HEROS ( Health Educators Reaching Other Students) beginning Tuesday, October 10. HEROS is geared towards high school students aged 13-18. The program's primary focus is to have fun while learning about and promoting messages on Healthy living and tobacco and substance prevention. Students can gain volunteer hours and receive a letter of reference after the program. Any interested students, please feel free to come to the office to pick up a flyer.

Parking passes for the year are now in the office.  If you have registered your vehicle, please come pick yours up.  If you still need to register your vehicle, please do so in the office and obtain your parking pass.  You have until Friday, October 6 to register your vehicle.  After Thanksgiving weekend, Administration will be issuing warnings to unregistered vehicles.
