Attention all vocal ensemble members - we're back! Back to rehearsals on Tuesdays from 3pm to 4pm. We only have 2 rehearsals in January - the 10th and the 17th, then we break for exams and resume semester 2! See you then!
Are you involved in NTS? Well don't forget our rehearsals are extended until 7pm on Thursday January 12th and Thursday January 19th. You must be OFF BOOK and fully memorized for the first half (pages 1-18) by THIS Thursday, Jan 12th. See the Directors, Connor or Lucca for more information.
This a reminder that ACS Knitting Club is meeting on Wednesday, January 18th from 3pm-4pm in Portable 17. See you then! Our current project is making blankets for the NICU at McMaster Hospital for the incubators. Come and grab the yarn if you need it. Thank you to teachers and staff who made yarn donations to our club!
Hey Lions! It's Neuroscience Week! The week kicks off with a trivia challenge. Grab a partner and look around the school for 12 trivia questions about neuroscience, answer them, then bring your answers to this Thursday’s meeting! Pairs who answer all 12 questions correctly will be entered into a draw to win Starbucks gift cards! Answer sheets are available outside of Room 3005. On Thursday January 12, during both lunches, we will be joined by 2 speakers, Matthew Jones and Calista Henry. Matthew Jones is a PhD student studying neuroscience at the University of Western Ontario and conducts research towards the development of anxiety medication. Give yourself a chance to witness the future in anxiety treatment! Calista Henry, part of "The Women in Western Neuroscience," speaks on the issues related being a woman in the psychology and neuroscience industry. She's involved in the community, sharing her experiences, and she's come to ACS to share with us too!

They were all their high school valedictorian. And this could be you! Deadline for the application and essay is Friday February 10th. See all the information in the grad package that you received at the grad meeting, in the cafe, in November.
A Women in STEM Conference is being held on Monday Jan. 30th, starting at 3:00pm following the period 4 exam. We have close to thirty female STEM professionals visiting us that afternoon, who's occupations range from aerospace engineer to cardiac surgeon, from data strategist using AI in the mining industries to a research astronomer. We are extremely proud to say that over half of our presenters are former graduates who are willing to share their success stories. We have invited students not only from our school or board but from across the entire Brant, Haldimand, Norfolk area. Registration closes on January 20th and we hope to have close to 250 participants. Please don't miss out on this event. It will be one to remember!!! Hey Lions! Welcome to Ugly Christmas Sweater Day. Students are permitted to wear their Ugly Christmas Sweaters with their uniform. Tomorrow, Friday, December 23rd, is Best Dress Day/Casual Dress Day.
Just a reminder to all students interested in curling on the school team. You must contact Mr. O’Brien and let him know if you are committed to the two Saturday bonspiels by noon on Friday at the latest. If we don’t have a full team, we cannot run a team.
Today is the day for our GSA extended Christmas meeting. It will run from 11:35am to 12:20pm in the Lecture Hall. Club members need to ask their period 3 teachers if they can attend. We hope to see you there!
The Board Games Club will be meeting TODAY in the Library from 3-5pm. Everyone is welcome.

Hey Lions! Welcome to Hawaiian Shirt Day. Students are permitted to wear their Hawaiian shirts with their uniform. Tomorrow, Thursday, December 22nd, is Ugly Christmas Sweater Day (uniform bottoms and shoes required).
There will be a GSA meeting TODAY in the Drama Room during first lunch and in Room 1035 during second lunch. Our extended Christmas meeting and gift exchange will be tomorrow in the Lecture Hall.

Grade 12 students who missed their grad photos from last Thursday's Snow Day have been rescheduled for TODAY- Tuesday, December 20th for the same time slots that were scheduled. You should have received an email from Edge Imaging as well.
The ACE Committee will be meeting TODAY at the start of second lunch to start planning for Black Heritage Month. The meeting will take place in the Chapel. Students of all grades who would like to participate are welcome to attend. Students in grades 9 and 11 will need to seek their teacher's permission before leaving class.
Attention all students attending the SHSM trip to see "Joseph and the amazing technicolour Dreamcoat" THIS Wednesday, December 21st: Please be sure to arrive at the back of the caf by 8:30am for attendance and to board the bus. We leave at 8:45am sharp. Also, be sure to check your email for trip protocol and etiquette in a theatre. We are representing ACS, so please show the public how awesome we are!

For all those interested in the chess club, we will hold a brief 5 to 10-minute meeting TODAY after school in Computer Lab 2023. Whether you are an advanced player, or you want to understand how the pieces move, all are welcome to join! Give your mind a good workout in the new year and make some new friends! Please see Mr. DaCosta if you are unable to make the meeting today.
It's the night we've been waiting for. Christmas Karaoke is taking place tonight from 6-9pm! Please ensure to bring your student card or some form of ID to enter the cafeteria. Your food ticket will be distributed then. We want a night full of music, fun, laughter, and Christmas spirit! Today is the last day to buy tickets at both lunches or Ms. Dabrowski's classrooms! Due to the ice day yesterday, if you forgot your $5.00, please go to a Jack member where tickets are being sold to sign up for the event and then bring the cash with you to the door!

There are also around 100 grads who failed to make their grad payment between Nov. 22 and Dec. 6th. Grads - You will have one last chance to make that payment: School Cash on-line will be open until the end of school TODAY. After that, it closes. Shut. Done. Never to re-open.
If you have not yet handed in your permission and health forms for the French trip, you are not officially registered for the trip, please get forms completed and handed in to any French teacher this week! Thanks so much!

The social Justice class is organizing their last event of the year and we are inviting you all to be a part of it!!!! Next Tuesday December 20th you will have an opportunity that you have not had in a few years, we are inviting you to spend an evening here at school, making memories with your friends while at the same time helping an amazing cause. Rosewood House is a shelter that takes care of many of our Brantford residents who are down on their luck. Our final fundraiser is hopefully going to raise some funds for this shelter to be able to buy Christmas gifts for the residents. For $3 you will gain admittance to an awesome evening featuring the Polar Express movie and a hot chocolate, when inside you will have the opportunity to purchase and make small treats as you visit many other stations to make memories with friends at. Please consider buying a ticket today at lunch at the back of the caf, for only $3 and coming out to a stress free, fun evening. Not only will there be treats, but we will even have a study tips and distressing tips table, so come and relax and be part of giving Christmas to those who need it most.
