Tuesday, February 14th, 2023

If you missed your school photo in the first semester, or need your photo redone, then mark this Thursday, February 16th on your calendar.  Semester 2 photos and retakes will take place on Thursday in the library.  Listen to Thursday's announcements for more details.

The Senior Boys Basketball Team takes on North Park in the semi finals tonight in the Lion’s den. Tip off is at 6:00pm. Come out and support our boys! They are looking forward to a crowd that will cheer them to victory!

Attention Lions.  This week is Registration Week.  During period 1, students are asked to return their Signed Course Selection sheets and their School Cash Online Receipt to our secretarial team in the cafeteria.  Students are only to be released from class if they have shown their teachers the two pieces of paper required for registration.  Get your registration forms in early to get the courses you want. 

Attention ACS Knitting Club members.  Our next meeting will be taking place on Wednesday, February 22nd from 3pm to 4pm in Portable 17. There's no meeting this Wednesday February 15th.  If you need more yarn, pop into the portable anytime.  Thank you for all you do.

There is a sign up sheet outside the Male Phys Ed for those interested in playing Bantam, Junior, and Senior Rugby. Please make sure you indicate if you need a rugby uniform as coaches want to submit an order ASAP. You do not need any previous experience to join the team. Please see Mr. Prior or Doctor Denison if you have any questions. 

Hey Lions, have you been thinking about working with a Prefect this semester to help you with a course that's been stressing you out? or did you want to learn a new language or practice speaking English? If so, have a chat with your teacher or guidance counsellor and swing by Student Services to pick and drop off an application to receive some FREE Prefect help.  We look forward to working with you --- The ACS Prefect Program.

Do you like to dance? Are you looking to learn some new moves? Are you in need of volunteer hours and want to be of service during the Brantford International Villages Festival? Look no further and register for the Hejnal Song and Dance Ensemble. We are looking for dancers of any level, from students who don't know how to dance to those who are actively dancing.  Miss Dabrowski will be hosting an information session on TODAY at 3:05pm in Room 3021 for those who are interested.

Happy Valentine’s Day Lions.  Come into the cafeteria and grab a fresh donut - there is a selection of vanilla dip, chocolate dip, and cinnamon sugar.  Today’s special is Rib on a Bun with Fries for $5.75.

Registration Presentations for the 2023-2024 school year will take place today for Grades 9, 10, and 11.  Students in Grade 12 wishing to return for a 5th year will have an in-person meeting during period 1 in the cafeteria on Tuesday, February 14th.  It is very important to submit your course registrations in on time to ensure you are registered for the courses you want for next year.  More information will be presented today in the grade level meetings.

STEM students are reminded that they are to drop by room 3005 to pick up permission slips to attend either Thursday's Let's Talk Science panelists discussion on the Future of Medicine from 12:30 to 2:00 in the Bio room (2073) or Tuesday's Forensics presentation taking place during period 4 in the Lecture Hall.

The 180 Team is meeting TODAY during both lunches. Today's meetings are in the chaplain's office, not in the chapel. 

There is a mandatory ACE/Black Heritage month meeting during both lunches today in the chapel.

Schedule changes require an in-person appointment and will not be done through email. The last day to sign-up for schedule changes is Wednesday, February 8th.

The GSA is starting up again. We will meet in Room 1035 today during both lunches as we begin work on our mural. 

There will be a very brief meeting for all members of the curling team today after school in Room 3011.  If you cannot make the meeting make sure you see Mr. O’Brien today.

Wednesday, January 25th to Thursday, February 2nd, 2023

We want to wish all our Lions the best of luck on their exams.  You are going to do AWESOME!!!!

The exam schedule is:

Period 1 exams are on Wednesday, January 25th
Period 2 exams, Thursday, January 26th
Period 3 exams, Friday, January 27th
Period 4 exams, Monday, January 30th 

In case of a snow day during exams, all exams will be pushed back a day.  For example, if there is a snow day on the Period 2 exam day (Jan. 26th), then period 2 exams will be written on Friday, Jan. 27th, Period 3 on Monday, Jan. 30th, and Period 4 on Tuesday, Jan. 31st.

The following Bus Routes will be leaving at 12:10pm on exam days:  Routes B-730, B-725, B-733, B-718, 17B, 18, 18A.  All other bus routes will be leaving at their regular time.

Students will be emailed their second semester schedule during the week of January 30th.  Students are asked to check their school email prior to the start of second semester.  The first day of second semester is Friday, February 3rd.

All students trying out for our school curling team are reminded that our second tryout is on Sunday, January 29th, from 2:30pm-4:30pm.  Remember to bring clean shoes

The cafeteria servery is closed during exams.  A reminder that the milk machine will be running during exams.  It will have milk, juice, and hummus packages available.  Good luck on your exams, Lions.  The cafeteria will reopen on Friday, February 3rd.
