Welcome to our Fall Spirit Week Lions! Students Council has several exciting events planned for you this week. Tomorrow is Pink Shirt Day so you can replace your uniform tops with a pink shirt. Bottoms must still be uniform.
Hello ACS Lions, are you interested in participating in a Youth Exchange Program? A representative from the Brantford Rotary Club will be visiting our school TODAY at noon. Please sign up today with Mrs. Martello in Student Services at the end of period one!
Attention all current or interested Environment Club members. Our next meeting will be held Tuesday Oct. 24th at 3:00pm in Room 3024.
On November 3rd our school cafeteria will be filled with display booths from around the world and we want your help. Come and learn how to be a part of this event that will allow you to showcase your culture. Please be sure to join our next meeting, October 26 in portable 13 – both lunches! All the information is on the Social Justice board outside of student services. Thank you!
Attention all SHSM health care students. Please pick up a permission form to attend the tour of Brantford General Hospital on Nov 2. This trip counts towards your SHSM completion. Spots are limited. Come to room 2029 (health care room) for the forms.
The Grade 11 drama class is putting on a dinner theatre. The show, “Murder Me Always”, is a play within a play where the Director ends up shot! It’s a whodunnit where the audience plays detective and can guess the killer while interrogating the cast. With a colourful cast of characters, full of twists and turns it's sure to be a must see! Will this “real” murder mystery be any better than the fake one? Is art imitating life? Come find out on Thursday, November 9th. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students/seniors. This includes dinner cooked by your very own Foods classes at ACS, AND a show! Tickets start to go on sale TODAY at the back of the caf. Cash only please!
Attention grade 12 and 5th year students! Student Services will be hosting the University and College Application Workshops TODAY and TOMORROW. The University Application Workshop will occur TODAY during period two grade 12 classes. The College Application Workshop will occur TOMORROW during period two grade 12 classes. Students who have a period two spare, on-line course or enrolled in a period two, non-grade 12 class, are invited to the Lecture Hall to participate in the workshop. CO-OP students will participate in the workshops on Wednesday, November 1st.
Hey Lions, are you musically inclined? Do you enjoy performing in front of others? If so, student council is hosting an event just for you! Coffee house is on November 15th, and we would love to see you perform. This year, auditions will be submitted virtually. Please record a short 30 - 45 second video of you performing and email it to Ms. Ristov no later than Monday October 30th. Looking forward to seeing your amazing talents!
Attention, Lions! Now that autumn has arrived, we are preparing for our annual Academic Awards Assembly which is a special evening to honour the academic achievements of students in the previous school year. The committee would like to congratulate all our Honour Roll recipients whose names are being proudly displayed by the Main Office of the school. Further details about the ceremony will be shared with you in the upcoming weeks, so please stay tuned!
In addition, there are several special awards that will be presented at our Academic Awards Assembly, including three School Council Volunteerism Awards. Based on your grade LAST YEAR, the School Council Volunteerism Award will be presented to one Gr. 9, 10, and 11 student who have demonstrated both commitment and community involvement. Sorry, Grade 9s--you will have to wait until next year to apply because this is again based on your grade LAST YEAR. There is a one-page application form available for pick-up in the Main Office today. Candidates will be asked to write a short essay and to return it with the completed form. The deadline for submissions is Monday, October 30 at 3:00 pm.
Today’s special in the cafeteria will be Chicken Alfredo on Rotini Pasta served with a side of garlic bread for $6.00 or just Alfredo Sauce on pasta for $5.25. Add a small water or jet juice for 75 cents. Have an awesome day Lions!
