Morning Announcements

Attention all Model UN delegates! Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Model United Nations will need to be rescheduled.  Please check the D2L page and your email.  Details to come later this week.

This week is Spirit Week.  Student Council has organized the following:
• Tuesday – Crocs/Sandals Day.  Students may replace their uniform shoes with crocs/sandals.
• Wednesday – Paid Casual Dress Day.  Students can bring in $2.00 to dress casually.  All proceeds collected will go towards the ACS Spring Fling.
• Thursday – Crazy Hair Day
• Friday – Spirit Wear and Lip Dub video recording. Please see the posters around school for route information and team locations.

A reminder that the YMCA's Youth Transition Program will be here TODAY during 2nd lunch. Please meet in TLC. 

We will be praying the rosary after school at 3:15pm TODAY. Hope to see you there!

Attention all Environment Club members - please check your student email for Environment Club updates.  In addition, there will be an Environment Club meeting THIS WEDNESDAY May 24th, during 1st lunch, in Room 3024 with Ms. Walsh, for all current members AND any other students who want to join!

Attention all grade 12s attending prom!  Tomorrow, Wednesday, May 24th, you will be able to check what table you are seated at for the big event.  Please make sure to check at the back of the cafe on your lunch.  If you need to make any changes, this is the ONLY day you will be able to do so!

The final STEM meeting of the year is this Thursday May 25th during both lunches. We have 9 former lions coming back to the den to share their stories about the STEM programs they are taking at university. Schools such as Queens, Trent, University of Toronto, Waterloo, Western, Guelph, MacMaster, Brock, and Toronto Metropolitan (formerly Ryerson) are all being represented.  Come hear about their programs, their schools, the food, the residences, ask questions, network and get a feel for what post-secondary education is all about.  Dismissal times are 11:15 and 12:35

Attention all grade 12 students who have taken or are currently enrolled in biology. If you are interested in attending a Genetics Lab Workshop at McMaster University, please see Ms. Borges. If you have already completed your permission form, please be sure to pay the $10 fee via school cash online.  

All Assumption Cares participants are eligible for community service hours.  Please stop by student services and see Mrs. MacDonald either before school, after school or at lunch to get your hours.

Do you want to go to New York City? Of course you do! Well, if you are a student in the ACS Art Department, see Ms. Benoit to get your 2024 ACS Arts New York trip information package today. There will also be an information meeting for students, parents and guardians on Thursday, May 25th at 7PM in the lecture hall. Come on out to learn more and maybe even win a door prize!

Do you like to get outside and walk or run?  Then the Brantford Rotary Classic run is for you!  Join the ACS team this year on Sunday, June 4th to help support the Lansdowne Children Centre and the Boys and Girls Club.  If you are interested in being a part of this amazing event please see Mme. A reminder to all Boys Lacrosse players...your semi final game against Holy Trinity is at 10:00am tomorrow morning at McKinnon Park.  Be sure to arrive no later than 9:30am.  Good luck boys!

We have a message for all grade 12 students who have paid online for the grad retreat. You MUST hand in a completed permission and health form in order to attend the retreat if you haven't already done so. All field trips require a permission form in order to leave school property. You will not be able to board the bus without it. Check your school email for a message from Mrs. Sheldrake with the form or you can pick one up at Mrs. Sheldrake's office.  On Tuesday morning you are to meet Mrs. Sheldrake and the supervising teachers at the bell at 8:50am at the back main entrance of the school by the student parking lot. The buses will be leaving at 9:00 sharp. Wear comfortable outdoor clothing that is in keeping with our school's non-uniform dress policy. 

The Glow Dance is TONIGHT and we have some reminders for those of you who are attending:
• NO cash sales will be accepted at the door.
• Please remember to bring your ACS student card or another form of picture ID in order to confirm your identity. 
• We will be using the STUDENT ENTRANCE for this event. Doors will remain open for admission from 6pm to 7pm. No late admissions will be allowed without prior approval. 
• Access to lockers will not be available during the dance, and you will not be permitted to leave the dance and return. Please make sure you have everything you need with you when you arrive. Coat check will be available for bags and other items if needed. 
• If you need a late taxi to Caledonia for after the dance, requests must be made in the main office no later than 12:30pm today.
• Dress in white or neon colours. Please remember that outfits must adhere to the student code of conduct, and should reflect the moral tone of Assumption College School.

Hey Geographers! It's finally time! Grade 9 students who are participating in the Niagara Falls Water Conservation and Hydroelectricity Trip TODAY, should now be at the back gym doors, across from the portables. The bus will leave at 9:00am sharp!

Attention all grade 12 students who have signed up for the grad Retreat. It is NOT this week. Camp Marydale had to reschedule the retreat. It is taking place next week on Tuesday May 23rd following the holiday Monday.

Attention Lions.  We will pray the rosary TODAY after school in the Chapel on the 2nd floor starting at 3:15pm. Everyone who wishes to pray with us is welcome. 

ACS Knitting Club is meeting on Wednesday, from 3pm to 4pm in Portable 17. Members, please check your email.

So why not come to the Spring Concert on Wednesday, May 17th at 7pm. Doors open at 6:30 and it's FREE, however, monetary donations to the music program are appreciated and accepted.

Glow Dance is THIS THURSDAY Lions, and tickets are going fast! A reminder that ticket sales will continue this week on school cash online until Wednesday. NO cash sales will be accepted at the door. Students attending the dance, please keep the following in mind:
-On the night of the dance, please remember to bring your ACS student card or another form of picture ID in order to confirm your identity. Please note we will be using the STUDENT ENTRANCE for this event. Doors will remain open for admission from 6pm to 7pm. No late admissions will be allowed without prior approval.

Listen up lions! Today is the LAST DAY to purchase guest tickets for the Glow Dance. They can be purchased at the back of the caf and you MUST have your guests’ signed form. Once again, today is the last day to buy guest tickets for the Glow Dance.  ACS students can continue to buy their tickets on SchoolCash online until Wednesday next week. However - dances have previously sold out, so don’t wait to get your ticket! This is the final dance of the year, so you don’t want to miss out!

The Shellard Lane Association is offering various volunteer opportunities for their initiative in bringing sports events to the area.  Please see the bulletin board outside of Student Services or the Guidance D2L page for more information.

Are you an Arabic- speaking newcomer between the ages of 16-18?  McMaster University is conducting a research study called Thriving Together to learn about how young people are adjusting and what supports are necessary. Your answers are confidential. For completing the survey you will receive a $15 gift card. You will also be entered into a draw for a chance to win one of 3 gift cards worth $100. To take part, you must be16 to 18 years old, arrived in Canada after January 2015, and be from an Arabic-speaking country.  Registration info is on the bulletin board in TLC.
