For everyone participating in We Scare Hunger, Tuesday will be the last day that forms will be accepted. There is a list in Student Services that indicates if you are missing any forms.  If you think you might be, please check it out. Also, don’t forget about the mandatory meeting on Wednesday, October 19th in the lecture hall during both lunches. 

Attention all students who are enrolled in an Advanced Placement grade 12 class!  Your exam fees are due TODAY - Friday, October 14th. All payments can be made on SCHOOL CASH ONLINE.  If you have any questions, please see Ms. Chagnon in Student Services. 

Tickets for the Murder Mystery are being sold at the back of the caf Today at both lunches.  $15 for students/seniors and $20 for adults.  Please let us know of any dietary restrictions or food allergies.  I hear the meal is to die for!

On Monday Oct 17th - STEM presents Alicia O'Neill - Aquatic Life Researcher - during both lunches in the Lecture Hall.  On Thursday Oct 20th, There will be a Let's Talk Science Presentation on Space Exploration featuring Jeremy Hansen from 12:30pm to 2:00pm.  Students will need an admit slip to attend as there may be some class time missed. They are to be picked up outside of Room 3005 starting Monday.

Mrs. Flanagan is looking for a team of students to run this year's Assumption College Model United Nations Assembly, or ACMA, that will take place on Friday December 9th.  Interested students need to have strong research and writing skills and must work well with others.  This executive team will manage delegate applications, research and write the resolution and determine the country list.  Applications forms are available outside 1013 and must be returned to Mrs. Flanagan by Monday October 24th.

Did you know that Pakistan has been affected by some of the worse flooding in the world. The people are in need of aid, and you can help by buying some Halloween candy! The ACE Committee will be selling bags of candy during both lunches at the back of the caf during the week of October 17 till the 21st. Bags will cost a minimum of 2 dollars, but everyone is encouraged to donate as much as they want! All donated money will be going towards relief for those affected by the floods in Pakistan!

Did you or your family move to Canada recently or in the past one to ten years?  Join us on Thursday, October 20th in the caf from 6:30 until 8:00 for our Newcomer Family Fun Games Night.  Bring your family and learn how to play a new board game, connect with other newcomers, and celebrate the rich cultural diversity of our community.  Register in TLC or online.

Dinner starts at 6p.m. and the Show starts at 7p.m.  Tickets are $15 for students/seniors and $20 for adults.  The meal?  Roasted chicken quarter, roasted potatoes with maple glazed carrots and a garden salad, all served family style. Dessert will be apple crumble à la mode (with Ice cream). Vegan/veg/Gluten free option will be a quinoa stuffed pepper and dinner roll.  And the show?  It's a whodunnit where the audience guesses who the murderer is! Tickets are being sold at the back of the caf at the end of EVERY WEEK leading up to the show.  Sign up for a table on the FORMS found on the school website.

Great news from the library! Wednesday night in the cafeteria the Brantford Public Library will be here giving out free library cards to Assumption students. Whether you live in the city, the County of Brant or on Six Nations, all ACS students can get a Brantford Public Library card. All you need is a driver's license or if you are under 16, you just need your parent’s signature. Library cards are one of the last free things on this earth, so why not sign up? Just like our own ACS Library, they have a ton of free resources online including eBooks and audiobooks that sync up with our Sora eBook system. Even if you’re not going to Parent-Teacher interviews, feel free to stop in the cafeteria between 5 and 7 to get your free Brantford Public Library card. If you have any questions, see Mrs. Engell or Mrs. Santos in the library.

Thank you to all those who auditioned for NTS Drama Festival.  A list of those who made the cut will be posted by the end of the day today.  There will also be a CALL BACK list posted.  Call backs will happen on Monday, October 17th from 3-5p.m.  See Mrs. Ratelband, Mrs. Boschman or Mr. DaCosta for more information.

Homecoming dance is TONIGHT lions! A few reminders to keep in mind: 
-Advance ticket sales for ACS students will continue online until 3pm only. Due to current numbers attending the dance, NO tickets sales will be allowed at the door. Make sure to buy your tickets in advance.
-On the night of the dance, please remember to bring your ACS student card or another form of picture ID in order to confirm your identity. Doors will remain open for admission from 6pm to 7pm. No late admissions will be allowed without prior approval. 
-Please remember that access to lockers will not be available during the dance, and you will not be permitted to leave the dance and return. Please make sure you have everything you need with you including an empty water bottle for use at the fountain. Coat check will be available for bags and other items if needed. 
-If you need a late taxi to Caledonia for after the dance, requests must be made in the main office by no later than 12:30pm.
-The theme for the dance is school spirit! Dress in school colours and spirit wear to earn the chance to win a caf cookie. Please remember that outfits should follow regular school dress-down guidelines. If it can’t be worn to school, it can’t be worn to the dance!

See you there!!

The Library Advisory Council will start on Thursday, October 6th in the Innovation Lab before school at 8:15am. If you can't make the first meetings but still want to join, let one of the librarians know and we will keep you in the loop on Teams.

Auditions to be involved in acting for the National Theatre School Drama Festival will take place TODAY during 1st lunch in the drama room OR TODAY after school.  Even if you missed the meeting and the original sign-ups you can still join!  Sign up for a time slot outside the drama room.  You must prepare a one minute memorized monologue from a play, t.v. show, movie or an original piece.  It should showcase your acting strengths.  See Connor Cabral, Lucca Berardi or email Mrs. Ratelband for more information.

Orange Shirt Day is September 30. Shirts to support this important event will be sold in the cafeteria during both lunches TODAY. All shirts are $10 cash. Please make sure you get your shirt and show your support on September 30.

If you are participating in We Scare Hunger, don’t forget to hand in your signed forms at Student Services as soon as possible.  If you want to join us it’s not to late, drop by Student Services to pick up a form.

Cross country training will continue after school at 3:15pm TODAY.  We will be meeting at the picnic tables by the portables.  New runners are still welcome to join the team.

The training session for retreat leaders for the grade 9 retreats is today on the lunchtimes in the chapel. Please come to the chapel promptly at the beginning of your lunchtime and be prepared to stay for the entire lunchtime.

If you are a grade 12 student graduating this year and wanting to go to the University of Toronto, please email Ms. Christie to be added to the list of potential ACS U of T scholarship nominees.

Exciting news in the Library! Next week Book Club and the Library Advisory Council will be hosting their first meetings. Book Club will start on Monday, October 3rd in the Innovation Lab during both lunches. The Library Advisory Council will start on Thursday, October 6th in the Innovation Lab before school at 8:15am. If you can't make the first meetings but still want to join, let one of the librarians know and we will keep you in the loop on Teams. Wondering whether Book Club and the Library Advisory are for you? Not sure what these clubs are all about? Feel free to pop by and ask Mrs. Engell or Mrs. Santos. 

Hey Lions! Student Council is happy to announce that Homecoming is happening this year! The dance is set to take place on Thursday, October 6th from 6-9pm. Show your school spirit by dressing in school colours for the dance. Tickets are $7 each and will be for sale on school cash online from Wednesday September 28th to Thursday October 6th. New for this event, all tickets for Assumption students MUST be purchased online.  If you would like to sign in a guest from another school, cash sales for guests will be available from Wednesday September 28th until Monday October 3rd at the back of the cafeteria. Only one guest is permitted per ACS student and they MUST be signed up in advance!  Limited tickets are available so be sure to get yours early. Hope to see you there!

Attention Lions!  Beginning this week and for the rest of the football season, students will be required to bring Student Cards to gain entrance into our school’s football games.  If you do not have a Student Card, you will require photo ID and a copy of your student timetable.  Also, only students of the participating teams will be allowed entrance into the football game.  Thank you for your support.

Attention all grade 9’s!  Anyone interested in organizing school dances, coffee house and other school events, please pick up your student council applications in the main office.  Remember, this is only for grade 9’s.  Applications are due September 30th.

Attention ACS students who drive to school! Please register your vehicle by Friday, September 30th in the main office.  Beginning October 3rd, Administration will be issuing warnings to vehicles.
