Hey Cross Country Runners! Please meet with your coaches to discuss transportation and teams for the Relay race tomorrow at Mohawk Park. At the beginning of your lunches, Grade 9s and 11s asked to please see Mr. Prior in Room 2003, and Grade 10s and 12s are asked to please see Ms. Czaplinska in Portable 5.

The guidance department will be running the COLLEGE AND UNIVERSITY APPLICATION WORKSHOPS next Monday and Tuesday. Attendance is MANDATORY for any student who intends to apply to a post-secondary institute for next year. The College application workshop will be on Monday, Oct 24th during Period 2 in the Lecture Hall. The University Application workshop will be Tuesday, Oct 25th during Period 2 at the front of the cafeteria. There is no sign up required for these presentations. Classes will be called down before the presentation.
There will be two meetings for the ACS Knitting Club this Wednesday, October 19th. One meeting will take place during grade 9/11 lunch in Portable 17. Bring your lunch! The second meeting will be on the 19th, after school in Portable 17 for anyone who does not have the 9/11 lunch.

Bags will cost a minimum of 2 dollars, but everyone is encouraged to donate as much as they want. All donated money will be going towards relief efforts for those affected by the floods in Pakistan!

Interested students need to have strong research and writing skills and must work well with others. This executive team will manage delegate applications, research and write the resolution and determine the country list. Applications forms are available outside 1013 and must be returned to Mrs. Flanagan by Monday October 24th.

Dinner starts at 6p.m. and the Show starts at 7p.m. Tickets are $15 for students/seniors and $20 for adults. The meal? Roasted chicken quarter, roasted potatoes with maple glazed carrots and a garden salad, all served family style. Dessert will be apple crumble à la mode (with Ice cream). Vegan/veg/Gluten free option will be a quinoa stuffed pepper and dinner roll. And the show? It's a whodunnit where the audience guesses who the murderer is! Great news from the library! Wednesday night in the cafeteria the Brantford Public Library will be here giving out free library cards to Assumption students. Whether you live in the city, the County of Brant or on Six Nations, all ACS students can get a Brantford Public Library card. All you need is a driver's license or if you are under 16, you just need your parent’s signature. Library cards are one of the last free things on this earth, so why not sign up? Just like our own ACS Library, they have a ton of free resources online including eBooks and audiobooks that sync up with our Sora eBook system. Even if you’re not going to Parent-Teacher interviews, feel free to stop in the cafeteria between 5 and 7 to get your free Brantford Public Library card. If you have any questions, see Mrs. Engell or Mrs. Santos in the library.

Homecoming dance is TONIGHT lions! A few reminders to keep in mind:
-Advance ticket sales for ACS students will continue online until 3pm only. Due to current numbers attending the dance, NO tickets sales will be allowed at the door. Make sure to buy your tickets in advance.
-On the night of the dance, please remember to bring your ACS student card or another form of picture ID in order to confirm your identity. Doors will remain open for admission from 6pm to 7pm. No late admissions will be allowed without prior approval.
-Please remember that access to lockers will not be available during the dance, and you will not be permitted to leave the dance and return. Please make sure you have everything you need with you including an empty water bottle for use at the fountain. Coat check will be available for bags and other items if needed.
-If you need a late taxi to Caledonia for after the dance, requests must be made in the main office by no later than 12:30pm.
-The theme for the dance is school spirit! Dress in school colours and spirit wear to earn the chance to win a caf cookie. Please remember that outfits should follow regular school dress-down guidelines. If it can’t be worn to school, it can’t be worn to the dance!

Come and learn how you can connect with other youth, earn volunteer hours and celebrate the rich cultural diversity of the city of Brantford. Attention all Lions! Did you move to Canada recently or in the past one to ten years? Or, are you interested in becoming a mentor for newcomer youth in Brantford? On Wednesday, the YMCA School Settlement Workers will be at ACS during both lunches to share information about free programs for youth ages 12 to 24 including Youth Fusion, Youth Peer Mentorship and Homework Help. Come and learn how you can connect with other youth, earn volunteer hours and celebrate the rich cultural diversity of the city of Brantford. Meet at the back of TLC at the beginning of either 1st or 2nd lunch. See you there!!

All members who are participating in We Scare Hunger, please have one person from your group grab a team form from the FishBowl in the library Wednesday, October 5th during both lunches. This form is to be signed and filled out with the driver's information and then returned to Student Services ASAP.
Auditions to be involved in acting for the National Theatre School Drama Festival will take place TODAY during 1st lunch in the drama room OR TODAY after school. Even if you missed the meeting and the original sign-ups you can still join! Sign up for a time slot outside the drama room. You must prepare a one minute memorized monologue from a play, t.v. show, movie or an original piece. It should showcase your acting strengths. This is a reminder that there will be tennis practices for all senior players today and tomorrow after school at 3:00pm. Junior practices will resume on Wednesday and Thursday. See you on the court.
Hey Lions! Don't forget the Homecoming dance is this Thursday October 6th from 6pm-9pm. Tickets for ACS students are being sold on school cash online for $7 each and will remain available for purchase until 3pm on the day of the dance. Ticket price will be raised to $12 at the door so get yours early! If you would like to sign in a guest from another school, please remember that TODAY IS THE LAST DAY to sign in guests. Cash sales for guests are available at the back of the cafeteria today during both lunches. A reminder that only one guest is permitted per ACS student and they must be enrolled in high school.
