Any boys interested in playing varsity boys baseball this year are asked to pick up a form outside of the male phys-ed office. Please return the form to Mrs. Lytle in Portable 5 by Thursday, April 6th at the end of the school day.
There will be a Virtual Prom Meeting for all Grade 12 Period 2 classes on Wednesday, April 5th. The meeting will take 15 to 20 minutes. Students with Period 2 spare can join the meeting via TEAMs in the cafeteria. Please see Ms. Christie in the caf.

We are looking to name Assumption’s “School Geography Champion” in the Canadian Geographic Geography Challenge! The 50 question Multiple Choice Challenge will be held on Thursday, April 13th during First Lunch. Attention all Visual Art SHSM students! There is a visual art trip to Toronto to visit the Disney Animation Immersive Experience happening on Thursday, April 27th. This is free for Visual Art SHSM students. See Ms. Benoit in the art rooms to get a permission form today. There are limited tickets available, and the trip is first come, first served.
ACS Student Council will be hosting our Spring Coffee House on May 4th! Do you have a musical talent you'd like to share? Auditions for this event will be held during both lunches on Thursday April 6th in the lecture hall. If you are unable to make the auditions but would like to participate, please email Ms Ristov with a short video submission.
Do you want to buy candy while supporting a cause? The ACE Committee will be selling bags of candy during both lunches at the back of the caf every day of this week. Bags will cost a minimum of 3 dollars, but everyone is encouraged to donate as much as they want. All donated money will be going towards relief efforts for those affected by the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria!
The YMCA Youth Transition Program will be at ACS again next Tuesday during both lunches. Curious to see what it’s all about? Drop into TLC at the beginning of your lunch and learn about what the program can do for you. In addition to their services, they can help you network in the community and set you up with necessary resources. There is no pressure to stay or sign up if you feel the program isn’t for you. So come out, check it out, grab a snack, and learn something new!
Attention Class of 2023! Each High School in Brant County is eligible to nominate 2 students for the James Hillier Scholarship. If you are a Student who has been accepted to a University or College program in Science and Technology and have achieved over 90% average on your top 6 University or Mixed level courses, including at least 2 sciences, have been a resident of Brantford or Brant County for your final 3 years of high school, are interested in scientific research, and would like to be interviewed and considered for the Hillier Scholarship, please sign up in Student Services. This is the first step of the nomination process. Sign-up by Tuesday April 11th.
Attention STEM members, we have an upcoming meeting scheduled for Wednesday April 5th. Our speaker is Mark Richardson, who is the Education and Outreach Officer at the Arthur B. McDonald Institute, a Canadian Astroparticle Physics Research center. Mark was born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where he fell in love with the night skies. After completing a Bachelor of Science in Astrophysics at Saint Mary's University, he escaped the winter weather and did a PhD in Astrophysics at Arizona State University. He studies how galaxies form and change over time in an effort to understand our own place in the cosmos. Mark has since held research positions at Oxford University and the American Museum of Natural History in New York and joined Queen's University and the McDonald Institute in 2018. Note the start times: students with first lunch are to be dismissed at 11:15 and are to make their way to the lecture hall as soon as possible. Those with second lunch are to be dismissed at 12:35. This way our presenter will have plenty of time to discuss topics such as galaxy formation and dark matter.

Did you know that Turkey and Syria were both affected by catastrophic earthquakes recently. The people are in need of aid and you can help by buying some bags of candy! The ACE Committee will be selling bags of candy during both lunches at the back of the caf during the week of April 3rd-April 6th . Bags will cost a minimum of 3 dollars, but everyone is encouraged to donate as much as they want! Also, hidden inside five randomly selected bags will be golden tickets that can be redeemed for big belly cookies in the caf. All donated money will be going towards relief for those affected by the floods.

Schulich Builders are responsible, hardworking, dedicated people who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents, meet college admission requirements, and are enrolling in a full-time, eligible skilled trade one-year certificate or two-year diploma program at a participating college starting in Fall 2023. If you are interested and meet these criteria, please email Ms. Christie by FRIDAY MARCH 31, 2023

Attention Class of 2023! Every year the Stedman Foundation Bursary helps a number of students in Brantford and Brant County pay for their post secondary education. A bursary looks at a student’s level of financial need and their academic success. Typically, bursaries do not require marks as high as those needed to win scholarships. Calling all grade 12s! Registration for the Grad Retreat is now open! Spend the day hanging out with friends at beautiful Camp Marydale near Hamilton overlooking the lake. Have a barbeque lunch. See the poster beside the library fountain and on the second floor beside the chaplain's office. You can pay online anytime.
You want to know more about ACS' Got Talent? The panel of teacher adjudicators will decide on the top 10. The top 10 will then appear on the stage LIVE on Wednesday, April 19th to an audience who will have a chance to vote to choose the top 5. Winners will receive prizes valued at $100 and above. These prizes will compliment your chosen art form. So email Mrs. Ratelband with your talent by Friday, March 31st at midnight! That's next Friday!
We are Assumption College. As part of our Catholic learning community, our hope is that you grow in faith and service. The Brantford Blessing Soup Kitchen is looking to hold a workshop to train ACS students for their Soup Kitchen. You will receive 4 hours of community service for attending the workshop, a t-shit and inspiration. The session will be held on a Saturday this Spring. If you are interested in volunteering with the Blessing Center you must enroll for this workshop. All interested students are invited to sign up using the Forms Link on the ACS Guidance D2L Page. Sign Up Closes Friday March 31st.

All those who gave your ticket to Mrs. Ratelband to see the preview show for NTS, come straight to the cafeteria for attendance, immediately following the announcements. Teachers check your email for the list of actors, crew and directors who are involved in the show and will be missing period 1 class. A reminder that this is still a work in progress, so we ask that you look on with a gentle eye.
Attention Indigenous Students! During both lunches TODAY, there will be a drop-in session in the Reading Room in the Library. This gathering is to get input on next steps for Indigenous activities and promote well-being. Light lunch is offered.

A bursary looks at a student’s level of financial need and their academic success. Typically, bursaries do not require marks as high as those needed to win scholarships. We are Assumption College. As part of our Catholic learning community, our hope is that you grow in faith and service. The Brantford Blessing Soup Kitchen is looking to hold a workshop to train ACS students for their Soup Kitchen. You will receive 4 hours of community service for attending the workshop, a t-shit and inspiration. The session will be held on a Saturday this Spring. If you are interested in volunteering with the Blessing Center you must enroll for this workshop. All interested students are invited to sign up using the Forms Link on the ACS Guidance D2L Page. Are you a grade 11 or 12 student in need of community service hours in order to graduate? If so, be sure to come out to portable 13 at any point today and sign up for an after school event this Wednesday, March 23rd, in order to earn some community service hours. We will be sorting clothing after school on Wednesday and many hands make light work! Come out and join us, while doing good work for your community, and earn those hours that you need. See Ms. Torto in portable 13 today!
If any Senior Badminton players need a cab to St. Johns today, please let Mr. Dyjack know by the end of period 1.
