Students Council thanks you for your great participation in yesterday's pep rally and movie night. Tomorrow to wrap up our spirit week we will be having a purple shirt day. Replace your uniform or spirit wear shirt with purple.

Attention all STEM members .... We have our first STEM presentation taking place this Thursday October 26th in the Lecture Hall. We welcome former lion Kaelyn Richards back to the den as she shares her story and discusses her role in Pharmaceutical Research. Note the dismissal times of 11:20am and 12:40pm for both lunches. Don't be late!

Could all members of last year's Chess Club, who are interested in participating at a Tournament in Waterford, please meet Mr. DaCosta TODAY during first lunch for a very brief information session.

All students participating in We Scare Hunger, here are a few reminders for Friday - Remember to be in the caf for 4 tomorrow, all driver's must be here for a brief meeting at 4.15pm, wear bright colours, dress warm, and be sure to bring a reuseable water bottle and snacks for yourself.

If you took chocolates for fundraising, it is time to get your money handed back in to Madame Rodger. You can find her in the foods room before and after school and on your lunch.  If you need more time, please go see her to discuss.

Good morning Lions! On October 30th and 31st during both lunches at the back of the caf, Halloween candy bags are being sold. Cash only. You can get a small, medium, or large. Don't miss it!

It's that time again! The art club will be meeting on both lunches on Monday, Oct. 30th. For 9s and 11s we will be meeting in room 2015 and for 10s and 12s we will meet in room 2028. See you there for some Halloween art fun!

Any Girls interested in trying out for the Jr or Sr Volleyball Teams please pick up a permission form and sign up outside the Female Phys Ed Office. Try out dates will be announced next week.  If you have any questions, please see Ms. Ferraccioli.

Anyone interested in trying out for the ACS Boys varsity hockey team will need to get a permission form from one of the coaches in room 2027. The forms will be available after school, all week, and tryouts will start in November.

Attention, students!  Exciting news from CWAYC – we're thrilled to announce our upcoming event!  Get ready to step into the shoes of diplomats and world leaders in our Model United Nations. It's a unique opportunity for you to debate global issues, practice diplomacy, and make your voice heard.  Whether you're passionate about politics, international affairs, or just want to experience the thrill of diplomacy, this event is for you!  Find more information, pick up an application form on the CWAYC bulletin board outside of student services.  Applications will be accepted until Friday November 3rd.  The Model UN will take place on Friday December 8th.  Come to Room 1013 if you have questions.

Remembrance Day is around the corner Lions.  Don't miss out on your chance to thank a Canadian veteran.  CWAYC is once again running the Thank a vet writing competition.  In 500 words or less, what would you say to thank and honour a Canadian veteran?  Entries can be submitted to the basket in the main office.  The deadline to submit is Tuesday October 31st.  There are prizes!

This is a great opportunity, don't miss out! See the SHSM lead teacher or your guidance counsellor for more information.

Coffee house is on November 15th, and we would love to see you perform. This year, auditions will be submitted virtually. Please record a short 30 - 45 second video of you performing and email it to Ms. Ristov no later than Monday October 30th. Looking forward to seeing your amazing talents!

Today’s special in the cafeteria will be Buttered Chicken served on steamed basmati rice for $6.00.  A side of naan bread will also be available.  For our vegetarian customers, a Butter Curry Sauce with tomato and onion will be available for $5.25.  As always, add a small water or jet juice for 75 cents.  Have an awesome day Lions!

Today is Pink Shirt Day! Thanks everyone for helping us to support Breast Cancer Awareness. Tomorrow is a very exciting and very busy day. All day long is a spirit wear or school colours day. Show your school spirit by dressing to excess in preparation for tomorrow afternoon's pep rally. Tomorrow evening Student Council is also hosting a Hocus Pocus movie night. Don't forget to buy your tickets!

The Gr. 11 Law Class would like to thank the A.C.S. community for the overwhelming support of our Legal Changemaker Scavenger Hunt.  It is now time to reveal the identity of the fourteen individuals who were featured in our display at the front of the Caf.  Please feel free to stop by and to learn more about these remarkable Canadians and the legacy they have all made.  The posters will be up for just one more week, so please don’t delay—stop by and learn more about these Indigenous leaders.

It’s a whodunnit where the audience plays detective and can guess the killer while interrogating the cast. With a colourful cast of characters, full of twists and turns it's sure to be a must see! Will this “real” murder mystery be any better than the fake one? Is art imitating life? Come find out on Thursday, November 9th. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students/seniors. This includes dinner cooked by your very own Foods classes at ACS, AND a show! Tickets start to go on sale TODAY at the back of the caf. Cash only please!

Attention grade 12 and 5th year students!  Student Services will be hosting the University and College Application Workshops next week.  The University Application Workshop will occur on Monday, October 23rd during period two grade 12 classes.  The College Application Workshop will occur on Tuesday, October 24th during period two grade 12 classes.  Students who have a period two spare, on-line course or enrolled in a period two, non-grade 12 class, are invited to the lecture hall to participate in the workshop.  CO-OP students will participate in the workshops on Wednesday, November 1st.

Amplify Your Culture is a long standing tradition here at Assumption…..and you are invited to be a part of it!  On November 3rd our school cafeteria will be transformed into a carousel of nations where pre-registered classes will be invited down to take a walk around and look at the beautiful, colourful, detailed, displays that students will prepare to represent their culture.  Think of it like taking a walk around the globe and learning about people from all over.  This event has always provided our school community with wonderful learning opportunities, amazing music, cultural dress, and sometimes even some food.   If you are interested in setting up a booth, to represent your culture please be sure to join our next meeting, October 26 in portable 13 – both lunches!  All the information is on the social justice board outside of student services. This is a reminder to all Staff and Students that the Legal Changemaker Scavenger Hunt will close on Monday, Oct. 30th at 3:00 pm.  There is still time to read the 14 posters at the front of the Caf and to submit the Changemakers’ names to the contest.  The QR Code and link are posted with the biographies.  One entry per person—and those who identify all 14 people successfully will be entered into a draw to win a prize!  Don’t delay!  Learn about these amazing Legal Changemakers today!

The Gay Straight Alliance or GSA is meeting in the Drama Room during first lunch and in the Library Reading Room during second lunch. The GSA will also meet after school today in Room 1007 to finish our mural.  Everyone is welcome.

The We Scare Hunger team is so excited about this year's turnout! We are the biggest ever! Please be sure to attend the next meeting on Wednesday in the Lecture Hall on both lunches to pick up your route and flyers!!!

The Black Heritage Month Assembly is a few short months away and we need to begin dance practices this week. If you are interested in preforming, come to our first practice on Thursday, October 19th in Portable 18 from 3:15-4:15pm. A calendar of practice dates can be found outside of Room 1003 and will be sent via email soon. If you have any questions, please see Natalie Osaruemwsense or Ms. Mosher. Our annual event will be held on November 3rd and we want you involved. Attention Grade 12 & 13 Students interested in attending Queens University.  The Queen’s Chancellor’s Scholarship Now Available!  $9000 for each year of study.  Interested students drop by student services to add your name to the interview list by November 1. **Only 2 STUDENTS can be nominated per school.**    Marks must be 90% or higher + Leadership + Creative and original thinking.
