Welcome to Jersey Day Lions! A reminder that uniform bottoms and shoes must be worn with your jersey. Tomorrow we have a paid casual dress day in support of Haiti. Don't forget it is also a Western/Cowboy theme. Use this casual dress day to show of your spirit by dressing in theme. Please note that the dress down costs $2 whether you are dressed in theme or not.

All STEAM Conference payments and permission forms MUST be submitted by 3 pm TODAY.

Attention all members of Junior Band: reminder of today's practice after school in the Music Room.  Only 3 more rehearsals until we perform.

The GSA will be meeting TODAY. The first lunch meeting is in Room 1007 and the second lunch meeting is in Portable 15. We will also be staying after school today to paint our mural in Room 1007. 

The Rainbow Ball will be on May 16th this year at Dunnville Secondary School. The cost is $10 and transportation is provided. The theme is SPACE GLOW. Dress is semi-formal and ANYTHING THAT GLOWS! You need to register for this amazing event by April 30th with Ms. Nuhu in room 1007 or Mrs. O'Sullivan in portable 15. Everyone is welcome!

Opa! Did you miss the 2025 March Break Greece Trip information meeting? Well, don't worry! There will be 2 more chances to learn about this incredible experience. Come out and bring your parents or guardians to the meeting at Holy Trinity on Wed. Apr. 24 at 7PM or the meeting at St. John's on Thurs. Apr. 25 at 7PM. Attention anyone interested in trying out for the Girls Fast Pitch team. The next tryout is 3:30pm on Tuesday April 30th at LIONS PARK.  Please see Ms. McDade if you haven't signed up.

Attention Vocal Ensemble members who are performing next Tuesday, April 30th at the "Celebration of the Arts" at the Sanderson Center. Your call time is 6:15pm at the stage door entrance. Please make sure to pick up a form from Mrs. Ratelband to be signed by parents or guardians if you will be picked up immediately following our performance.  Tickets are $10 and may be purchased through the Sanderson box office. Staff and students are encouraged to attend and support the Arts in our school board.

Attention Class of 2024!  We have a very special award opening up this week on D2L.  Are you a grade 12 College English student?  The Nancy and Travis Lytle Memorial Award is an honorarium given to the student who best embodies the traits most important to the honorees: respect and responsibility. This student is ready to serve the world, in the spirit of Christ, while maintaining their personal integrity in the process".  Application process can be found on the Grad D2L page.

Today at lunch, Students Council will be hosting a hula hooping competition as part of Spirit Week. Come on out for some fun and a chance to win a caf cookie. Tomorrow is Jersey Day! Replace your uniform top with your favourite jersey. Uniform bottoms and shoes must still be worn.

A reminder to all Advanced Placement students!  We will be having a mandatory AP STUDENT exam training session TODAY in the LECTURE HALL at 11:00 am.

ACS takes on BCI today as the Boys Rugby season begins. Please dismiss the Grade 10 boys at 10:30am. Please dismiss the Grade 9 boys at 11:00am.  Please dismiss the Seniors boys at 11:35am

The Chess Club will meet after school TODAY in Room 2023. All are welcome to attend, but those that have a reserved spot in the tournament must report their travel situation to Mr. DaCosta after school.

It's Spirit Week Lions and Students Council has plenty of fun activities planned for you this week. Today is sunglasses day. Rock your favourite pair of sunglasses with your uniform. In honour of Taylor Swift's new album dropping and Shakespeare's birthday, the library is running the contest for one last day, TODAY. Come to the library for your last shot to guess whether it is T Swift lyric or a Shakespeare poem or sonnet line. Two out of 3 correct will earn you a ballot for an Amazon gift card and 1 LEAP point. Hey Lions, did you know that TODAY is Earth Day and we've got something super cool planned!  We're asking all of you awesome students to help us out by collecting plastic bottle caps.  You know those little caps on top of your water bottles or soda bottles? Yup, those are the ones we're talking about! Instead of throwing them away, bring them to school!  You can leave them with your homeroom teacher everyday next week and someone will come and pick them up.  Let's show our planet some love and help keep it clean and green!

Attention Grade 11s! The time has come!  The Religions and Humanities Department has organized a trip for all students enrolled in Grade 11 World Religions to Toronto. The exploration will take place on Thursday May 2nd, and it will be all day!  Students will be leaving Assumption at 9AM and coming back in the evening. Please ensure to arrange a ride! The cost of the trip is $25 which includes transportation and tours! The deadline to hand in your forms and contacts is Thursday April 25th, so sign up quick to secure your spot!!!  If you would like to pick up a permission form or would like more information, please see Miss Dabrowski!

And finally, we have some exciting news Lions!  Chris & Cruz competed at CWOSSA badminton yesterday in Kitchener. They started off great winning back-to-back games. In their third game they lost a tough matchup to one of the best boys' doubles team in the province. They quickly bounced back winning the next 4 games to secure 2nd at CWOSSA. They will compete at OFSAA in Barrie on May 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.  Congratulations Chris and Cruz on this awesome accomplishment!

We are currently creating a large scale blanket with stitched squares as we hope to raise awareness of any social justice issue you feel need to be addressed in our school community and/or the world. We will create awareness with QR codes with yarn display in the month of June: this is called yarn bombing. Despite its name, it has gained popularly around the world as a social justice platform for change. Give your voice and educate others! Email Mrs. Cameron with issue you wish to share with your fellow Lions.

There will be an IMPORTANT Yearbook Club meeting TODAY afterschool at 3:05pm in Room 2028. 

The Varsity Boys Soccer team will practice TODAY after school outside behind the portables. All team members and red shirts are expected to attend.

The deadline for online payment is May 6, just 3 weeks away. Also you must pick up a Grad Retreat permission form which are available in a folder outside of the Chaplain's Office.

Lions, If you are between the ages of 14-18, the YMCA has a great offer for you.  Starting Tuesday April 16th, the Y.E.S. program (Youth Engagement Series) is offered each Tuesday from 4-6 at the Y.  After completion, you will receive volunteer hours as well as a complimentary 3 month YMCA membership.  Attend the 6 week program and learn about various topics offered by Brantford Police Services. Snacks are provided as well as transportation if necessary.  If interested, please check the school website for more details or the bulletin board in TLC.

The Varsity Boys Soccer team will practice TODAY after school outside behind the portables. All team members and red shirts are expected to attend.

An important message for all Track and Field participants.  There will be a mandatory meeting TODAY after school, outside at the track prior to the start of practice.  If you are interested in participating in Track and Field, you must attend or speak to Mr. Petrella.  He can be found in the male Phys Ed office. 

Hello ACS knitting club.  This is a reminder of our weekly meeting tomorrow from 3pm to 4pm in Portable 17. You're always welcome to come at lunch to drop off any project and grab more yarn and just spend some time with other members crocheting. Thank you for all you do. The deadline for online payment is May 6, just 3 weeks away. Also you must pick up a Grad Retreat permission form which are available in a folder outside of the Chaplain's Office.

We will leave Assumption at noon and return by the end of the school day.  Permission Forms are available on the QUAKE board beside Student Services, and can be returned to Mrs. Walsh in Room 3010. Spaces are limited - First Come First Served!

Conestoga College has two great opportunities for girls in grades 7-10. Both events are free and registration details are in the flyers.  These flyers have been posted in the ACS Guidance Brightspace page.  
 1. Girls in Gaming – Saturday May 11th (9 – noon).  Check out the creative, artisitc, and technical world of gaming. This event includes hands -on workshops lead by women in art and tech and the opportunity to try out our state of the art, eSport Hub.
 2.  Go Code Girl – Saturday May 4th (9 – noon).  Explore the worlds of coding, AI, virtual reality and eSports at Conestoga.

Attention Grade 11s! The time has come!  The Religions and Humanities Department has organized a trip for all students enrolled in Grade 11 World Religions to Toronto. The exploration will take place on Thursday, May 2nd, and it will be all day! Students will be leaving Assumption at 9AM and coming back in the evening. Please ensure to arrange a ride! The cost of the trip is $25 which includes transportation and tours! The deadline to hand in your forms and contacts is Thursday, April 25th, so sign up quick to secure your spot!!!  If you would like to pick up a permission form or would like more information, please see Miss Dabrowski! 

Lions, If you are between the ages of 14-18, the YMCA has a great offer for you.  Starting Tuesday April 16th, the Y.E.S. program (Youth Engagement Series) is offered each Tuesday from 4-6 at the Y.  After completion, you will receive volunteer hours as well as a complimentary 3 month YMCA membership.  Attend the 6 week program and learn about various topics offered by Brantford Police Services. Snacks are provided as well as transportation if necessary.  If interested, please check the school website for more details or the bulletin board in TLC.

Did you know that earth day has its own flag and theme song; the flag was created in 1970 by peace activist, John McConnell and the song was written in 2013 by Indian poet Abhay Kumar.  That's right Lions, Earth day is coming up and we are preparing to celebrate! Things you can do include:
- You can check out our earth day board near the library, 
- You can plan ahead to participate in the recycled art contest on April 15 during both lunches
- You can head out with your teachers to clean up a section of west brant on April 23rd - don't worry teachers, and email is coming soon.  Thank you Lions!
