It’s that time of year again – time to sign up for the annual February trip to Carnaval in Quebec City!!  All students enrolled in Gr. 10 French are invited to participate in this unforgettable and tremendously valuable travel experience.  This trip is directly aligned with new FSL curriculum which states that students need to enhance their ability to understand and speak French through conversation and discussion in authentic situations.  Furthermore, the new curriculum places emphasis of second language learning on the oral component as well as the cultural aspect of the language.  This trip to Quebec requires the students to meet such expectations as they are expected to read menus, understand short texts, read maps and event guides and ask Carnaval volunteers for directions to different venues.  This trip will allow our students to practice first-hand the language skills they are learning in the classroom.  Activities include dog-sledding and snowshoeing, snowtubing at Valcartier, a tour of the Beaupré Coast and St. Anne’s Basilica, a tour of old Quebec City, and daily participation in Carnaval activites.  Contact Madame McCulloch for more information.
