LEAP Stratford Festival 2018

Calling all language and Drama lovers!

Our L.E.A.P. Club—Literature Enrichment Advanced Placement Club—would like to invite you to join the AP English class for a fabulous enrichment opportunity!  On Wednesday, October 3, 2018, we have arranged a field trip to the world-renowned Stratford Festival to see a matinee production of Shakespeare’s The Tempest.

The play, one of Shakespeare’s most revered, combines betrayal, magic, and of course, revenge!  Directed by the Stratford Festival’s Artistic Director, Mr. Antoni Cimolino, and featuring Ms. Martha Henry in the starring and typically male role of Prospero, the production is getting rave reviews!  The stage design, costuming, and special effects have also caught the eye of thousands so far this season.

Our trip will begin with a one-hour workshop, a Prologue, in which the cast and crew of the production will lead us through a variety of introductory activities and allow us to step foot on the Festival Stage itself.  Then, after our action-packed, interactive workshop, we will return to the Festival Theatre to experience the full production of the play.  Please see the attached letter for a detailed itinerary and further details about this amazing outing.

We are excited to be able to offer this experience to our L.E.A.P. members for only $40.00, which regular theatre goers know is an INCREDIBLE deal!  However, this is a first-come, first served opportunity.  Spots are limited to only 44 students and promise to go quickly.

Interested LEAPsters can print a permission form and return it as soon as possible.  All payment is to be submitted online through “School Cash Online” (via the A.C.S. website).  Permission forms and a printed receipt must be returned IN PERSON to MS. BIRKA in in Room 3010 either before or after school to secure your spot.

Questions about the trip?  Please see Ms. Birka in person or E-mail her at sbirka@bhncdsb.ca

Also, if you are interested in checking out L.E.A.P. or in becoming a full member, please refer to the Advanced Placement information on the school website or speak to any English or Drama teacher for more information.  We would love to have you!  The more the merrier!
