1. Attention STEM students, STEM Olympics will be held the week of April 20th to April 24th (please note the date change). Create a group of no more than 4 students at the same grade level and sign up outside of room 3005. The week’s events include trivia, as well as grade level, math, and engineering challenges. Don’t miss the chance for your team to be declared STEM Olympics Champions! You must sign up by tomorrow!
2. Today the 180 Team is meeting on the lunchtimes in the chapel.
3. The library will be closed Thursday and Friday for the literacy test until approximately 1PM. Do not enter if the closed sign is out. The cell phone locker will be unavailable the rest of the week. Please plan accordingly.
4. All girls interested in trying out for the SLO-PITCH team. Please come to a mandatory meeting at the beginning of first lunch today.
5. Just a friendly reminder for all those who are travelling on the England and France trip next year to please pick up your permission form packages from Mrs. McLaughlin in room 2052 on your lunch. You are not eligible to travel if you do not submit the required permission forms. For those still interested in joining the trip, more spots have opened due to overwhelming demand! Come by room 2052 for a flyer and a registration link to ensure your spot before these spots fill up fast and registration closes!
6. Are you taking coop next school year? There is a mandatory meeting today in the lecture hall right after announcements. If you missed that, the meeting is today! Make your way to the lecture hall as soon as the announcements end.
7. Applications for Student Council are now available in the main office. If you are interested in joining our team next year, please pick one up today!
8. Calling all writers looking to win some sweet cash, join the LAC SLAM POETRY CONTEST celebrating April as National Poetry Month! Combining the world of theatre with poetry, perform a clip up to 90 seconds of your original written piece with any theme of your choice! 1st place prize is a $100 cash, 2nd place prize $50, 3rd place: $25. The entries are due by 9:00 AM on Monday, April 27th in the Library D2L. If you have any questions feel free to ask an LAC member or Mrs. Engell in the library!
9. Attention Grade 9 and 10 students! Are you interested in traveling to Greece in your Grade 11 or 12 year? Sign-ups are now open for the 2028 ACS Arts March Break trip to Greece! Spots for this once-in-a-lifetime experience are limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis—so be sure to register early to secure your place. Early enrollment also lets you lock in current pricing and access the lowest monthly payment options. Want to learn more? Pick up an information package outside Room 2015, speak with Ms. Benoit, or attend the information session on April 29 at 7:00 PM in the lecture hall. Plus, there will be door prizes!
10. Attention Graduating Class of 2026 students who are attending post-secondary education in the Fall. Several incredible Grad Award applications are now available. Please ensure that you review the Award History (when available) before submitting your applications.
11. Blessed Sacrament Parish in Burford is looking for 4-5 student volunteers to assist with serving water and clean up on Saturday April 18th 9:45am- 4:15pm at the Blessed Sacrament Banquet Hall in Burford. Please see Brightspace D2L for details and contact info.
12. ACS Powerlifters had an outstanding showing at the Westdale Winter Open, with first place finishes from Mya, Peyton, Natalya, Ryan, and Malik. Natalya also set a provincial high school record in the deadlift. Albus and Anthony delivered strong performances on the platform, rounding out a strong showing for the team.
13. Today's special in the servery will be Chicken Quesdillas made with diced chicken, salsa, onions, mozzarella cheese and peppers grilled and served with a side of sour cream for $6.85.
