1. Congratulations to the March Positive Attendance Award recipients: Gr 9 - Amit Bhuva, Gr 10 - Bhavya Sharma, Gr 11 - Srivishnuu Srinivasan, Gr 12 - Taiwo Ademosu. Please come to the office after announcements to pick up your $20 Cafeteria Gift Card.
2. World Autism Day is Thursday April 2nd, this is an opportunity for conversation and celebration of Autism. ACS will celebrate and show support for Autism by wearing coloured socks on Thursday April 2nd.
3. Attention students applying for the Lion/Letter Award. Your status sheet of academic marks and or the optional community service sheet can ONLY be picked up from a Librarian on the Monday following the day you received your application. These sheets will not be given out any other day, but Mondays in the Library. And don’t forget to photocopy your student card for the application.
4. Attention STEM students, STEM Olympics will be held the week of April 13th to April 16th. Create a group of no more than 4 students at the same grade level and sign up outside of room 3005. The week’s events include trivia, as well as grade level, math, and engineering challenges. Don’t miss the chance for your team to be declared STEM Olympics Champions! Sign up today!
5. Hey Lions, are you interested in tree planting this year? This amazing opportunity comes around once a year and is now open for those that are interested. There will be approximately 40 spots for students who would like to attend. Please pick up your permission from the social justice bulletin board outside of Guidance. There are 2 opportunities, a morning shift and an afternoon shift. READ it over carefully, and be sure to take a copy of the form for the shift that you would like to go on. You MUST return the signed forms to room 3024 during grade 9 lunch or at the end of the day. Forms are due by the 17th of April.
6. Calling all writers looking to win some sweet cash, join the LAC SLAM POETRY CONTEST celebrating April as National Poetry Month! Combining the world of theatre with poetry, perform a clip up to 90 seconds of your original written piece with any theme of your choice! 1st place prize is a $100 cash, 2nd place prize $50, 3rd place: $25. The entries are due by 9:00 AM on Monday, April 27th in the Library D2L. If you have any questions feel free to ask an LAC member or Mrs. Engell in the library!
7. Just a friendly reminder that the Yearbook Club will be meeting after school today in Room 2028!
8. Don't forget to submit your coffee house auditions to Ms Capostagno by Friday if you want to perform!
9. Don’t forget to purchase your bracelet today to help raise awareness and money for the SPCA. They will be sold for $2 each.
10. Are you taking coop next school year? Mark this important message on your calendar. Next week on Thursday, April 9th, there is a mandatory meeting immediately following announcements in the lecture hall.
11. Today's special in the servery will be Tex Mex Loaded fries or Nachos topped with tex Mex beef, Cheese sauce, Salsa, Green onions and sour cream for $8.25. Nachos and cheese available for $4.99. Cinnamon buns at 10:15am break. Ice cream cups are back-vanilla, butterscotch ripple and chocolate for $1.75.
