1. Homecoming Dance is THIS THURSDAY lions! Ticket sales for ACS students will continue on school cash online until Thursday at 3pm. NO cash sales will be accepted at the door. On the night of the dance, please remember to bring your ACS student card or another form of ID to confirm your identity. Please note we will be using the STUDENT ENTRANCE for this event. Doors will remain open from 6-7pm. No late admissions will be allowed without prior approval. Please remember that access to lockers will not be available during the dance, and you will not be permitted to leave the dance and return. Coat check will be available for bags and other items if needed. The dance theme is School Spirit. Dress to excess in spirit wear and school colours. Please remember that outfits must adhere to the student code of conduct, and should reflect the moral tone of ACS.
2. ASSUMPTION SCARES forms are being collected in the caf TODAY on all lunches. Please be sure that everything is filed out and that you have all of your teammates paperwork stapled together. If not, you will be asked to resubmit. Don’t forget that we only have 70 routes and if you don’t hurry and hand in your forms, we may run out of routes and you will not be able to participate!
3. Amplify Your Culture, the awesome celebration of culture here at ACS, is happening on October 23. Thers is still time to register your group before our next meeting on OCT 10. See one of the many QR codes around the building to sign up. If you have signed up, please check your emails to confirm the people in your group along with an idea of what you are doing. If you are bringing food list the ingredients and start thinking about cultural music tor the playlist.
4. Booooooo! Have you ever thought about capturing the Spirit of Halloween on paper? Would you like to win candy and chocolate? Here's your chance to put your WORDS, WORDS, WORDS onto paper and submit a piece of writing capturing the SPIRT OF HALLOWEEN for LEAP's Halloween Writing Contest. For more info, check out our orange posters around the school or stop by the Library. Deadline to submit hardcopies ONLY to the Library is Fri. Oct 17
5. Leader training is taking place today for those wanting to be leaders for the grade 9 retreats. That’s in the chapel on grade 10 and grade 11/12 lunches. You will be signing up for the retreat schedule today. Please arrive promptly after the bell.
6. Our ACS Prefects are ready to help you, Lions. Stop by Student Services to PICK-UP and DROP-OFF an application-form to work alongside one of our Prefects to receive free Homework Help, Tutoring or Mentorship. Applications are limited and once they're gone, they're gone!
7. Can any student who was a part of Ms. Cameron’s Knitting club, and is still interested in knitting, please come to portable 13 at the end of the day TODAY!!!! If you can not make it, please email Ms. Torto asap.

10. Attention all STEM Club members, new and old. The moment you have been waiting for has finally arrived. Our first meeting of the year is TOMORROW, October 2nd! Come to the lecture hall on your lunch. Bring your lunch and join us to hear about our amazing club, what we have planned this year, and how to get the most out of your experience in STEM. New members are always welcome!
11. All Grade 9 Students with Semester 1 Geography are invited to take part in the Niagara Falls Field Trip on October 9th. See your Geography teacher for more information, and return all forms, and 85 dollars CASH, to Room 3024 at Lunch. First Come First Serve!
12. Attention students! Come and help us launch Hispanic Heritage Month at the Latino Club today, at 3 o’clock, in room 3026! We’ll have fun and lots of culture to share. Everybody is welcome!
13. Do you enjoy genres like soul, rnb, or Gospel? To the “soulful voices” group, the first rehearsal is today, Wednesday, October 1st, after school in the lecture hall from 3-4pm. Please arrive promptly. Anyone interested feel free to attend as practice will be assessed! See Stanley Owusu for more information.
14. Today's special in the servery will be Potato and cheese perogies with caramelized onions and sour cream on the side for $5.25 add fries or a salad for $6.50. Just a heads up that cookies are in short supply - carnivals cookies will be available as a substitute.
SPORTS:
The Cross-Country team started off their season yesterday, competing in the W. Ross Relay Race. Owen L, Danika W, Yusef B, Alexandra L and Matthew S placed 1st in the Senior Mixed division thanks to a fast last lap by Alexandra. Stella K, Oliver S, Penelope S, Godwin A and Jordyn M placed first in the Junior Mixed Division and gained bragging rights as they ran more laps than the seniors. Next Race for the Lions is tomorrow at Brock University.
