1.   Grade 12 students – the grad retreat is on Tuesday. Get your permission forms in tomorrow. You are to meet on Tuesday morning at 8:45am at the school entrance by the portables and tennis courts for your buses. Be sure to bring a refillable water bottle, a hat and sunscreen. Dress for the weather in school-appropriate casual clothing. 

2.   Second last day to donate shoes to the Confidence Closer Shoe Drive, Lions! Thank you to everyone who has donated so far, we are very thankful for your generosity and we are so grateful to be able to support these youth and young adults who need these donations. Tomorrow will be the last day of collection so please bring spare shoes if you can! 

 

3.   Happy Asian Heritage Month Lions! ACE invites you to come learn and experience a glimpse of Origami, a traditional aspect of Asian artwork This Friday May 16th! We're exited to be holding a free Origami workshop in the Library Innovation Lab during all three lunches so be sure to check it out! 

4.   Have nothing to do May 29th at 7pm? Enjoy stage combat and a good drama? Then come out and support the gr.12 drama class as they put on their production of “The Outsiders”! Set in the 1960’s, this play follows Ponyboy Curtis, a young person who is navigating their own identity and the conflict between ‘the greasers’, and their rivals: ‘the socs’. Tickets are $10 and go on sale Thursday May 22nd. You can pick tickets up during lunches at the back of the cafe or by emailing Mrs. Ratelband at nratelband@bhncdsb.ca Still not sold? Well, there will also be snacks available to buy at intermission! Warning: this show does contain violence, flashing lights and loud noises. So let’s support our fellow lions as they take the stage one last time! 

5.   Attention Grade 12’s. Prom is around the corner. Tickets can be picked up in the main office. Bring your proof of purchase. Also...AND THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT...please send Ms. Mosher a list of who you are sitting with. You do NOT need a full table of 10 to send her a list. This needs to be done by tomorrow. If she does not receive this list by tomorrow, she will assign you a table.  If you have any questions, please see Ms. Mosher as soon as possible.  

6.   Unfortunately, due to low ticket sales, the Spring into Glow dance for this evening has been cancelled. Purchased tickets will be refunded over the next several days. Any concerns please reach out to Ms Ristov.  

7.   The 180 Team is meeting tomorrow , Friday in the chapel on the lunchtimes. 

8.   Attention all poets and performers! Get ready to showcase your talent for the upcoming virtual LAC Slam Poetry Contest! Submit your original poems by Tuesday, May 20th, 11:59 PM in the library's D2L. With cash prizes up to $100 for the top three winners, this is your chance to shine! Choose any theme that inspires you, but remember to keep it respectful and free from offensive language. Slam poetry is all about expressing your thoughts and emotions with passion and creativity—so let your words flow and captivate the audience! 

9.   Just a friendly nudge that all library books must return to their home shelves by Monday, June 2nd—no excuses, not even “the dog ate my book”. If your book is holding on for dear life because you need it for class, don’t worry—you have until June 19th. But after that, we might have to start charging fees. Do the right thing—set your library book free!  

10.   Attention! All Extended French students in grades 9-12 that are interested in coming on the lavender field trip; please pick up a permission form on the workroom 2010 door.  All permission forms must be returned by May 27th. 

11.   Attention girls trying out for the slo-pitch team. The tournament has been moved to Tuesday. There is a mandatory practice tomorrow after school.  Meet at the tennis courts.  If you cannot attend- you must speak to Ms. McDade today. 

12.   If you borrowed a uniform from TLC, you need to return it ASAP. Any collateral remaining after May 30th will be donated to St. Vincent De Paul. 

13.   Attention all successful Prefect recruits, there is a mandatory training session during your lunch in the lecture hall TODAY. Do not be late.  Thank you on behalf of the ACS Prefect Program 

14.   Are you in drama, dance, media art, music, photography, or visual art this year or next year? Then you are invited to come on the ACS Art Trip to New York City in May next year! A year TODAY, you could be heading out on the adventure of a lifetime where you would explore Central Park, see a Broadway show, take selfies on the Highline, shop in Times Square, and view world-famous art, like Van Gogh’s “Starry Night”. If you are interested, see Ms. Benoit for more information, or pick up an information package outside of room 2015. Only 7 spots are left, so enroll today! 

15.   Attention all future explorers interested on embarking to Italy next March Break! Miss Dabrowski has just printed off more Italy trip packages, because you're all as excited about pasta and the Pope as she is. If you need a package, swing by her classroom or find her in room 2010 during third period, yes, she’ll be there buried under a mountain of Rome-themed paperwork.  And if you're still undecided, there will be an info session on Monday, May 26th for all interested students, don’t miss it unless you're okay with staying home while your friends reenact scenes from The Lizzie McGuire Movie in real life. 

16.   Today’s the day, ACS, Jack Karaoke ticket sales officially begin at all three lunches in the cafeteria! For just $5, you get admission to the greatest musical showdown since your uncle’s wedding, plus two slices of pizza and a shot at winning some awesome prizes, sorry, no autographs from Mr. Martorelli, unless you ask politely on the Italy Trip…. Whether you’re belting out Beyoncé or bravely butchering Bon Jovi, grab your ticket and get ready to sing your heart out on Friday May 23rd! 

17.   Hey Grade 9 second semester Religion students, if you're interested in seeing King of Kings next Friday morning, (and who wouldn't want to kick off the day with a cinematic journey through the life of Jesus?) , make sure you hand in your permission forms to your teachers and pay on School Cash Online by Friday, May 16th. This is a hard deadline: no ifs, ands, or loaves and fishes, because the theatre needs to know how many of you are coming so they can roll out the red carpet, or at least warm up the popcorn. Don’t miss your chance to see the greatest story ever told… on the big screen!
