Our Faith

Introduction

Welcome to Catholic Education at Assumption College! We welcome ALL secondary students and families! You may have attended one of our Catholic elementary schools... or maybe you come to us from another school system, Board or even area. We are happy that you have chosen us to support you in your secondary journey!

The promise of Catholic Education is that a “true encounter with Jesus can and does take place, each and every day within our Catholic schools” (Renewing the Promise, Pastoral Letter for Catholic Education p.15). We are called to walk alongside and accompany the students entrusted to our care. We do this by building relationships and community: a place for all, where everyone belongs. In our contemporary culture, we prepare our students for joyful discipleship by living the values of the Gospel. They become peacemakers and witness to social justice by putting their faith into action engaging with the local and global community. As a Catholic school system, our commitments are rooted in faith. With a focus on Belonging, Teaching and Learning, a Wellness for all, we provide our students and staff with the tools for realizing their fullest potential, while also instilling a life-long commitment to the community.

Our Mission Statement:

Assumption College School is our Catholic learning community

where we strive for excellence

and we work to become respectful, responsible individuals

who are ready to serve our world in the spirit of Christ

Faith in Our School

The role of the Chaplaincy Leader is to provide for the spiritual, moral, ethical, and pastoral care of the school community and to promote Catholic values within the school. The Chaplaincy Leader consults regularly with the principal and attends a variety of meetings to support the staff and students. Also, the Chaplaincy Leader provides expertise in academic subjects on issues of spiritual, moral, and/or ethical significance where a Roman Catholic perspective is needed.

Our students take an active role in putting faith into action. ACS staff and students are involved in local initiatives and support community partners like the St. Vincent de Paul Society and the Brantford Food Bank. We are engaged in global initiatives and our students learn about social justice issues through education and involvement with organizations like Fair Trade.

Our ACS students strive to understand important issues that are in our community and abroad. They are innovators, problem solvers, critical thinkers and leaders of tomorrow that challenge themselves to be part of long-term solutions.

Services to Staff and Students Include:

  • Retreats
  • School Masses
  • Volunteering
  • Prayer
  • Ministry to Sick and Bereaved
