STEM Club helps Assumption students embrace math and science.

A lunchtime club at Assumption College is allowing students to embrace their love of math and science.

Almost 200 of them are giving up their free time to listen to talks by a theoretical physicist, a cancer specialist, a neurologist, a vascular surgeon, a nuclear engineer, an expert in quantum computing and cryptography and other guest speakers brought in once a month to talk to club members

Astronaut Jeremy Hanson got a rock star welcome when he visited Assumption last November. He talked to students about how opportunities for space travel are going to skyrocket in the next couple of decades.

"It's not just the information they're sharing, but the passion they have for their jobs," said Grade 12 student Nick Legacy who is a member of the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Club.
