Mock Trial at Brantford's Provincial Offences Court

Fifteen ACS students took part in an all-day mock trial competition on Friday April 1, 2016, at the Provincial Offences Court house downtown. The students had the opportunity to play both the Crown case and the Defense case. This year's case involves a second degree murder charge against Bobbie Bann. The Crown's role was to provide evidence as to whether Bobbie intended to kill Fallon King. The Defense's role was to provide doubt that Bobbie did not intend to kill Fallon King and was acting in self defence. Local civil lawyer Dennis Touesnard and local Assistant Crown Attorney Deb Kinsella each judged one round of trials. Coaches Mrs. Engell and Mrs. Tunnicliffe were impressed with the hard work and dedication of our ACS students. Mr. Picone attended one trial and he too was impressed with the caliber of legal ability at our school. Students involved include: Tracy On, Cory Schmidt, Shahmeer Anwar, Nick Rivard, Tadiwa Chitikeshe, Lauren Kugler, Michael Crewson, Emily Casey, Darien Lomas, Janvi Rautela, Arthur Skoczen. Myles LeBlanc, Joshua Imola, Avery Coulombe, and Sierra Jansen.
